Will Messi make himself an all time great in the next month?

he's a wonderful player but he disappear's in games all the time

anyone mentioning his name in the same breath as maradona is a little tapped.

Hes a top top player and just as good as Maradona was. The problem is the Argentina team rely on him and expect him to do everything. If Maradona wasnt the manager then we'd see a completely different Messi for Argentina but its not easy will all that pressure on you. Add to the fact that the Argentina people dont even like him because he left when he was young to go to Barcelona and they call him a Catalan not an Argie. There are no doubts about Messi's class and imo he doesnt need to go and win the world cup to be mentioned with the likes of Maradona and Pele, for me hes already there

i watched about 15 - 20 barca games last season and about half of the time i forgot he was on the pitch. i admit that could be because of the quality that he is surrounded by, but i feel he is nowhere near diego - yet.

he probably will be as good, all the signs are suggesting it. but not yet.

Messi is in a different league to any other player on the plant, so for me if he has a bad world cup playing for that nut job it would probably be blamed on maradona anyway.

But if he has a good world cup, Hello best player of all time.

I'm not sure! I think Messi is still only approaching the levels of the real Ronaldo at the moment. When he first came on the scene he was also jaw droppingly good and exciting.

Garincha Pele Cruyff Maradona Zidane and Ronaldo (all time top WC goalscorer with 15, and 2002 player of the tournament!) all did at the world cups, it's what sets them apart from the rest of the worlds good players!

This is Messi's first test but I really do think that Iniesta and Xavi have a huge bearing on how good Messi can be - Iniesta is my fav player, absolutely love his game, and it was really obvious he wasn't playing in them semi's against Inter as Xavi was on his own in the middle and Messi wasn't provided with enough opportunities by the movement and abilities of Iniesta and Xavi!- but at Argentina it is just expected that Messi has the ability to just go and beat teams, but just because that's what Maradona could do it doesn't mean anyone else on earth can do so! I've seen a fair few games where Messi has done nowt at all!

But at 22 he still has time to become a player as good as te others mentioned, I personally think he may be 27 or so before that happens! But he may make a start on it this summer!

He only plays badly internationally coz he plays centrally and gets crowded out instead of on the wing

Overrated, living off playing with Xavi and Iniesta.

Goes anonymous too often. Against good defenses does nothing etc..

Remember eto'o scored just as many in the Barca team (does that make him the best in the world?)

Pep Guardiola called him the best he's ever seen. By a long way.

47 goals last season as well, I'd say he does more than just living off Xavi and Iniesta.

Great... Eto'o scored 36 the season before.

Ronaldo had a better goal scoring ratio than him last season.

Jose Mourinho called ibrahimavic the best in the world.. Does it mean it is correct?

Watch him at the world cup, and when he does nothing everything will be blamed on his team - it is a joke.

When david villa scores more goals than him next year will that make him the best in the world?

He said the best he had ever seen. OK Guardiola is his manager but that is some claim. I have lost count of the number of people who proclaim him to be merely the best in the world. At 22 he has done the lot except for the World Cup. Like you say we will see over the next month.
