I found the joke tasteless and horrible

but. I do understand that presenting the awards nowadays as a comedian you need to be controversial and push the line. You can’t blame him for that joke.

I didn't find the joke tastless or horrible, or particularly funny. But the way Smith reacted wasn't really appropriate given the situation. He should have sparked him or sat there and laughed.
The fact that he started shouting at him after he realised he'd had one chance and fucked it up by attempting a playground slap says it all really.
He's a big fella, he should of knocked him out if he was so concerned about his missus being offended.
Instead of which he decided to audition for pantomime.
He's a loudmouth prick.

Adrenaline had kicked in by then, hence the repeating of what he said. He did laugh, but he saw his wife was seething. He was digging himself out of the shit with her by doing it after she gave him daggers by the eyes. Prick is right. He was a massive prick. The other fella was too, this isn't to apportion blame one way or another, but he was only being a fanny by reacting to his wife's hump, with him. If every bloke did that there would be people slapping each other left right and centre.

If the oscars are going to roasts why not just pick the nominated actors and make fun of them and their performances?

It's just weird isn't, Chris Rock and the female comedians making jokes about the Smith's personal lives and Jada getting most of the brunt of it. And Rebel Wilson's boyfriends joke at the baftas.

Does anyone really watch the Oscars for comedy anyway?
