Will Smith slaps Chris Rock at the Oscars

Why are people objecting to a thread in 'OFF' topic by stating they 'don't care'?

Plenty of other threads to post what you care about in.

It goes to show you DO care as it's getting on your nerves!

I don't care about Hollywood, I don't care about celebrity, but I do care about open wanton violence permitted without consequence.

I might be in a party of one here but this is the funniest thing I've seen in a good few days.

Forgetting the bizarre accent, it just perfectly encapsulates the meaninglessness, self importance and self serving nature of Hollywood.

"The best emoter of all time" FFS. Are they about to cast Men in Black 4 or something?

And the praying hands. Dear god, the praying hands.

It really isn't, there is nowt deep about it

Bellend makes shit joke
Other bellend slaps him

Happens all over the world daily
I can see a lot more to it than that. Why did Smith laugh at hearing the joke, should he have behaved like that on one of the worlds biggest stages, should he have left, should he have apologized to Chris, what is the outcome for a world famous star to act like this, did he do the right thing, did Chris go too far, will he lose his oscar, will Smith lose fans, will Chris gain fans, who agrees with Smith etc etc

Context.

Sounds like the end of a shit episode of Soap

Well, speaking as one of the handful on here that actually enjoys watching The Oscars I can say the comedy angle is a huge element of it that people do like, cringeworthy jokes.
Everybody expects this. These people know they are massively overpaid and they know it and attendance at the Oscars has a certain risk involved, as far as piss taking. The actors "normally" take it in good faith, it goes with being rich and famous. They dont have to attend but they know that their ego will force them to be there. Which in itself is quite funny.

Anyway, not the Oscars but John Cleese made my favourite acceptance speech;

When he says “mother” half way through, it tickles me every time.
