I think the aim with Maffeo and Angelino was to get them some good game time for 6 months before they become the backups next season

Yeah I posted that in the Maffeo thread but the need to improve the FB position has been criminal for a couple of years now and we need something short-term.

n`zoni and VVD would be my guess. it would allow us to be three at the back more again and hopefully vinny is back middle of January. need a world class right back and at least one world class left back in the summer though!

I can see Nzonzi arriving,as our midfield cover is seriously lacking and we dont really have a player that combines his athletic prowess and defensive mindset.I would imagine if Nasri is willing,he will be a huge part of the deal.

I can't recall Chelsea being linked, it was more of a two horse race for N'Zonzi between us and Juve. But they've just signed another centre mid, Tomas Rincon, so looks like it's only us in the running now.

Good news if true, we really do need to get the defence sorted asap though ideally, not wait til summer.

I suspect because of Pep's inability to get the present squad to perform he has already told the powers that be to forget this season.

If that is the case and he is allowed to bring in the players that he wants then will be the time to judge him.

I only hope we don't splurge millions on Messi he is not getting any younger is he?

Bringing people in in the winter window so rarely paid off. I'd be disappointed if we did any more business than what is needed to secure a top four finish this season, then rebuild in the summer. In my mind, that's a left back.

I agree! If we bought Messi while still creaking at the back I guarantee we have people on here complaining that he didn't track back or put in a shift.
