daft question

We did
We don´t do it enough away from home though - we simply have to cut out these periods of cruise control . You cannot fookin cruise control in the PL. In La Liga, Serie A etc , yes - here absofookinlutely not

I think it is not a case of sustaining for the full ninety. It is more a case of not shutting down for the time it takes ordinary sides to score two goals - Distin unmarked, and the midget of the game outjumping a central defender. We have a tendency, and I think it comes from Mancini, to think we can get ahead and shut out teams. We can hang on these days against poorer sides but against snappers we sit back and let them play.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fuckin City! Why do we love them so much?

Exactly, you CAN´T turn off for a second in this league - that´s what they MUST learn and learn fast!

I disagree. As someone said, it's very rare for any team to be completely dominant for a full 90 minutes. There is always going to be a spell when the other team will get back into it and have a few chances. The important thing is to capitalise when you are well on top and that is where we have fallen down a few times this year. I can think of quite a lot of games this season, where we have battered teams early on but not scored enough to make it comfortable.

If Vieira hadn't missed that sitter early on, it would have been a different game. I think it's harsh to blame Mancini for yesterday. The system was obviously working as we created loads of opportunities. There's not much Bob can do to make sure an individual player takes those opportunities.

Anyway, I would have been delighted for us to be in this position at the start of yesterday so all's well that ends well.

Great post and spot on...

I also think we must be doing something right but can't help feeling disappointed at getting beaten by two headers....Especially the 2nd one.....Had chances of our own though in first half to put it to bed

1) In both games vs Everton this season, we have been undone by a 15 min spell when we either lost concentration or sat back and lost initiative.
Although this is frustrating, it is a big step forward to previous years when they actually played us off the park to get their wins...now they need a bit of luck.

2) I think we have won something like 12 out of our last 13 home games...with an away record that is awful over this period.
This tells me we are a fair weather team that stills lacks backbone in a few areas.
You can see why Hughes wanted to sign a player like John Terry - because of the fighting spirit + leadership he brings to the team.
Top sides still need a Roy Keane,Vieira-in-his-prime type player who is uncompromising and leads by example.
i.e. a midfield player who not only breaks up play (like De Jong) ... but drives the team forward and stops them dropping back + inviting pressure.
Not many around in this category...but Scott Parker at W ham has done a good job in this role in a struggling team.
