Will we win the league this season? No

This team can only improve. FA cup + Carabao would be an incredible achievement. Considering we beat Arsenal easily twice, I can only look forward to next season. The refereeing is what has left me disappointed this season.
Off top of my head, what’s left me disappointed is:
Drawing at home to Forest
Drawing away to Sunderland
Drawing at home to Brighton
Drawing away at West Ham
Losing away to Newcastle
Losing at home to Spurs
Drawing away to Spurs
Losing away to Brighton
Losing away to United
Losing away to Bodo Glimt
Losing home to Leverkusen
Losing home and away to Madrid
Drawing away to Everton

Far too many people getting overly optimistic about this squad.
It’s a good squad.
We should have a fucking brilliant squad.

Will we ever emulate our past glories and stupendous and entertaining football?
Of course we will. Tbh we've got much closer than I expected us to this season. And back in January I'd have totally taken this position. It's been a bit of a dodgy season, but we've got one cup, a good shot at another and a certain second in the league (with a slim, SLIM chance of more). With a team in transition this represents a significant over-perfornance.

Very unlikely now albeit not impossible. But I hope the team will take this aura of injustice into next season and play with real hunger. If we can finish on 83 points, I can easily see us picking up another 5-7 pts next season and that should be enough to win the league. It is possible Scum and Scousers will improve so it won't be a cakewalk but I see the good times ahead. And 2 cups if we can win next week is far from shabby

We do still have a chance and I too think it will be the last game.I agree it will be our greatest but i don’t think it’s quite going to happen.
The most difficult game appears to be Bournemouth away but if we beat Palace and Bournemouth, and take it to the final day, it becomes possible. For the stupid out there, possible does not equal probable.

Have to agree.

The treble winning season should have been the platform to build to new heights - never seen before in this country.

But it sorta felt like meh thats that. Football completed.

PSG now the benchmark, who are probably gonna bag their second CL and dominate for years to come.

What injustice is this? Surely our fault for not getting enough points...?

Nail on head. People have the blinkers on with this squad. Even if we'd won the league it's miles off another Champs League. That's the standard we've been accustomed to. We used to keep the ball so well that in a game the oppo legs would go. Week in, week out. I feel like we've got a team of individuals that don't have half the IQ of the those before them.

We're not competing with MCFC_2023, we are competing with Arsenal_2026.

It’s over guys. I would have had high hopes for Palace but typical they are in a European final three days later. It is what it is. First time we’ve lost out in a title challenge.
It’s not over til it’s over but I wouldn’t bet on it now! It’s our own fault. We were 1-0 up at Everton and for some inexplicable reason, we started playing too cautiously. Guehi mistake was a disaster but despite that we still had 25 mins to win the game. Instead, we fell to pieces for 15 minutes and it will cost us big time. The experience was lacking and it’s an area of concern going forward as more of our winning mentality players leave and possibly the manager. As GDM alluded to in a previous post, this could continue.

Winning trophies is key though to give these new players more winning experience. Winning next week will help no end with that!

We will win the league again and we will play great football again but I think it's best for everyone if we accept that 2018-2024 is the greatest period of football an English club side has and will ever produce and that it's not a good measuring stick for where City will be now or in the future.

Do you think we will do that with a new manager after 10 years with the same one? There is no guarantee that won’t be the case.

I think that would be a tall order and I think with so many new players it will take Pep staying to have a chance. I am not sure he will.

Most City fans haven't given up but the bottlers have.

Plus we are about to lose proper world class players in Stones and Bernardo. Hard to replace legends like that. Also we need to replace recent shite we’ve bought like Marmoush, Savio, Ait Nouri and Kovacic (impressive trophy haul but he’s a sub not a starter) as well as Lewis and probably Nico G. Still very much a work in progress

I was replying to the poster who said we'd win the title by 4 points. You're not having a great night so far, not remembering that we won the title at Brighton.
What part of my comment is incorrect?

We can win our last 2 games, and Arsenal can win 1 and draw 1, and then it's down to GD
