Will we win the league this season?

Like many are saying, this WC will play a bit of a part in the coming season, that there is no doubt, but as long as Pep doesn't get his wish of a small squad we ware gonna be just fine with a few more additions to cover the ones that are going out of the door.

Also if Pep introduces his new bird to the world, he might be less agitated than last season, as that obviously played a huge part, unless of course I'm right in thinking we were asked to throw it a bit
Most our players take part in World Cups, Euros, Copa America etc. which, apart from the Qatar WC, usually take place at this time of year. How much more onerous will the CWC be?

It must help that the club are in charge of the players for this tournament rather than their national managers. It’s clear that the players workloads are being carefully managed. Especially during the group stage. Pep has said that the players will have plenty of downtime. The physios and medics will surely have looked at the effect that the tournament will have on the players bodies and prepared suitable training programmes.

And there must be some benefits from playing in this tournament. An extended time to work on tactics and systems. To work on the failings that were exposed last season. The impetus to sign new players early.

It would certainly be better if the players could have a traditional pre season. A longer rest before returning for pre season. But these days the benefits of that have been compromised because we then send the players jetting around the world to play pointless friendlies.

Waffle? I’d check your own fucking posts mate, fucking Liverpool this Liverpool that get fucked with your nonsense chat

Fucking wind me up cunts like you, maybe I can join your grammar club with other toffee nosed wankers, I speak as man on the street and a match going fan and don’t take kindly to plums in your mouth cunts like you, as it’s poorly written for God’s sake, have a think of why you’ve put then again like I said earlier just get fucked instead
That is much clearer.

Ageeed, now all depends on how long we remain in it, otherwise it’ll be back to a conventional training routine as they’ll not go on tour anywhere else now And might have to have a few practice matches back at home

I don’t feel like we will, unlike I have felt in numerous seasons in the recent past. We’ll do better than this season and maybe be in a title race, but I think the players may need another year to gel and trim down the squad somewhat.

Competition for places not just in the team in the coming season but for who will remain here long term will mean rotation will be high and sometimes that stops players getting into good rhythms. And if players do end up getting into good form and keeping their place, there’re going to be a lot of players unhappy with not playing.

No idea whether Foden and Rodri will be as good as their previous best. No idea if the new players will have the desired impact. No idea if the injury prone players can stay fit. No idea if the young lads will take a next step up. No idea who the goalkeeper is going to be. No idea whether the new coaching staff will make the desired impact.

yes i tend to agree with the sentiment in the final paragraph: new assistant manager, new coaches, new attacking midfield line up (basically), new version of Rodri... lots of 'new' doesn't usually make for a solid title assault. But you never know, we should definitely be in the race.

Although I want us to win the league I won't be gutted if we don't because we are in transition from players leaving and those we have signed last January and this summer.

It's going to take time for players to get used to each other and understand the way Pep wants them to play in several formations and gel together.

I'm hoping to see fast attacking direct football full of excitement and more goals, and if we can improve on our chances to goals ratio and tighten up in defence and not concede sloppy goals I don't think we'll be far off winning the league and cups.

The posts that I tend to agree with here emphasize that there are still a lot of uncertainties as usual but probably more than in some recent seasons.

As a fan I am not entering the season with a high level of confidence that we will win the league. Equally I am not discounting the likelihood that we will be competitive with a decent chance of winning the league.
Personally I think the odds are a little against us but I'm optimistic that we will have enjoyable entertaining and competitive football to watch and I'm certainly not discounting the possibility of a title at this stage.

I'm not sure. The run up to the start of the coming season reminds me of the run up to 2013/14, some exciting new attacking signings but still vulnerable at the back, certainly without a proper RB we will remain that way as I don't think we'll see the 'real' Rodri until towards the end of the year. Took Van Dijk a while to get back to his best after coming back from his ACL and that's a position that doesn't require covering as much ground as Rodri's.

As we all know Liverpool swept the league in 2013/14 after beating us 3-2 at Anfield, can see the same thing happening again.

In other words you've no idea then :)

Be nice to not get humped in the big games this season to be honest. Hurt like fuck getting battered by the dippers and arse at their gaff, let alone the spuds 4-0 at home.

A question like this depends on City and clubs like Liverpool and Arsenal.

In 2025 we were the best team in the Premier League. City will have Rodri back, and possibly Stones, and Foden may recover his form. We will also have players such as Ries, Khusanov, Marmoush, Reijnders, Cherki, Echeverri and Ait-Nouri. I think that's a very significant upgrade. As has been pointed out they have to settle in and we don't know how the World Club Cup is going to affect us. I think we will challenge for the title this season. I am expecting Arsenal to buy a striker, and that may change their potential but they have not done it yet.
