Will we win the league this season?

I agree with this; Oscar Bobb is a prime example as he’s only started a dozen games of senior football for City (every fanbase does this though, not just ours)… but Cherki was the top chance creator per-90mins played in Europe’s top five leagues last season. It’s not like he’s an unknown.

Cherki made his France debut against Spain in the Summer as a second half sub and was the best player on the pitch, in half an hour he brought France back from 4-0 down to just losing 5-4.

I’m proper excited about him. I think he’s our best signing since Gvardiol, and we’ve signed 20 players since we signed Gvardiol.

I seem to be his only detractor on here so i'll happily take plenty of flak if Mr Cherki comes good

He cost buttons cos Lyon had financial difficulties and he had an agreement with the club to leave on the cheap and he wanted only City - this has been explained to you already though so I don't really understand your agenda.

Is Pep waxing lyrical about the boy in his most recent press conference not good enough for you?
No agenda just not a naive fanboy

I assume Lyon's difficulties would have sparked interest amongst other clubs ..... did anyone else bid for him ?

Pep's never signed a player who didn't produce ??

Yes other teams tried for him in January, maybe nobody else bid for him because they were told there was no point and he wanted us, only need to have watched him few minutes with us to see how good he can be.

Cost roughly the same as Cherki so your argument seems a bit contradictory.
Plenty of players are hailed as wonderkids - means nothing. If he was proven to some extent and the real deal he wouldn't have cost buttons.

Be excited about Donnarumma, he's the real deal

There’s just no way we’re getting 10+ points from those games.

We have a terrible recent record against Liverpool in general and away at Villa.

Think these 4 games are where we’ll drop right off.

Next 4 are make or break the season for me, which is why I mentioned them.

Villa (A), tough ground against a good team in good form.

Bournemouth (H), a good side who play the type of football that has typically hurt us in the last 18 months, we do have home advantage though.

Liverpool (H), only think we have a chance because we're at home, at theirs we'd have no chance as usual.

Newcastle (A), got a better record than most against Newcastle but it's always a tough game up there, good side with the crowd well up for it.

Like you say, I don't see us getting 10+, if we did though that's when I'd think 'okay, we have a chance'.

Are you one of these snowflakes who gets upset when someone has a different opinion ?

How many times you seen him play a full 90 minutes live ? Less than a handful I imagine. So you're basing your opinion on what ..... you tube clips, Wolves away ? So you're rating a player on fuck all real evidence. Go back to YouTube mate.

Are you?

There's no higher authority than Pep, and yesterday Pep himself described Cherki as one of the most talented players he has seen in his career. That's praise enough. Pep hasn't said it about Doku, Savinho and even more established players like Sterling or Sane or Mahrez.

There's zero doubt about Cherki's talent. Whether he will make it count is a different matter. It depends on his character: is he ready to work hard and listen to Pep (remember Sancho didn't want to learn from Pep)?

Any City fan, who has paid attention to what Pep says, to how Cherki played last season, and to the bits of magic he has produced since his arrival can feel excited. The talent is there, it's application depends on Cherki and him staying injury free. Time will tell.

I’m just seeking someone who bases their opinions on something substantive like alexmcity obviously does rather than a couple of clowns just naively thinking every signing is brilliant and that anyone who disagrees is negative / argumentative / rag / dipper.

Thats fine if you’re 10 years old btw.

In my humble opinion, Arsenal will flop, plain and simple. Forget the players they have, their two biggest problems are:

1) The weight of expectation from their fans, followed by the chaos when the fail (Arsenal TV - say no more).

2) Their over emotional manager and the impact he has on the rest of the club. He's either up in the clouds or down in the dumps, no middle ground.

Now whether we can be up there to challenge if I am right, that's a different matter.

I agree they're tough fixtures, but "recent record" is a rubbish reason.

I don't think there's anything about "recent records" which is predictive, beyond the fundamental quality of the teams involved. It's just soothsaying.

It's ironic how upset you are lmao, do cry some more please, it's great entertainment.

Recent record is predictive hence why there’s such thing as a bogey team in football. It’s mentality driven.

Anfield is our bogey fixture. We last won there with fans in the stadium back in 2002/03 or something like that. We go there in seasons where we’ve won the treble/ got 100 points whilst they’ve finished 4th or 5th and still lost to them.

We last won away at Villa back in 2021/22 and last beat Liverpool at home in 2022/23. Of course recent form against an opponent is predictive because mentally we know it will be tough to win, even if we are the better team.
