Will we win the league this season?

It looks like Doku and Savinho are going to get considerable game time. So we would need them to up their goal scoring/assists significantly which I'm not convinced will happen, hopefully I'm wrong.

There are loads of positives though with the new signings and the return of Rodri and Foden. Also saw a few good signs from Haaland dropping deeper and getting more involved with people running past him.

It's going to be an exciting season!
I think it's too soon to say what this upcoming season has in store. For one thing, I do think Doku has improved a bit of late. I felt he was one of our more dangerous attacking threats down the stretch even if there is room to improve. Savinho only has a year under his belt and we've seen players in the past take a big step from year one to year two under Pep. Mahrez was pretty quiet in his first year for example. Not comparing him to Riyad, just saying I've learned not to write players off too soon. Additionally, we will have Cherki, Marmoush and probably even Phil taking some turns outside so I think the pecking order will depend on who is performing well, which combinations show the best chemistry and what system Pep lands on. We have a decent number of options to select from though.

Gvardiol is a centre back and our better results towards the end of the year coincided with him moving to cb. We've just bought ait nouri who's an actual lb so maybe play him there. Also the only thing Khusanov will currently destroy is the strange fantasies of some fans that he's ready to be a difference maker. He's not. And that's fine. Maybe he will be one day. I agree with moving akanji on.
I think we saw enough weakness between Gvardiol / Ait-Nouri on the left side of defence, up against the pace and strength of Malcom, to be concerned for the PL.

I think Gvardiol is great but he's definitely got some flaws at CB - even though I'm sure Pep keep him there now. Yet he's still a better LB (defensively) than Ait-Nouri in my opinion. He's not bad going forward either...

Hopefully with some games together they'll build a more solid partnership on that side.

Gvardiol needs a partner he trusts but for me he's a world class footballer and the future of our back 3/4. I think if we told our full backs to close people down before they cross it we'd also be in a better position!

I hope not. Would like marmoush foden Cherki behind haaland . Fullbacks for width.
If that front 4 play's more often than not with Rodri and Reijnders behind I'd be pretty confident of a really good season.

We definitely need a specialist RB though, and I'm a little concerned about the keepers, I'd rather we moved one of them on and brought a top one in.

Who are these players who are past their peak?
I think it’s fair to say Stones, Ake, Grealish, Akanji are definitely past their peak for a variety of reasons and Dias needs to regain form. Some might also suggest Ederson but I’m not sure about that
Add to that we don’t have a good right back and it’s going to be tough to win the league

Not a chance we win the league next season.
CWC performance showed us the issues from last season still exist.
Too vulnerable to the counter and ball over the top.

No recognised right back (as of yet).

Chelsea look better than us on CWC performance, that’s a huge worry (because they’re a joke).

Haaland is still looking short of confidence. The penalty he gave up against Palace for me is still a huge concern.
Plus our wingers don’t get enough goals when Haaland isn’t getting them.

I really, really hope I’m wrong.

I posted previously that you just don’t know, but I’m swaying towards battling for top 4 and more so 4th spot red scousers and arsenal will be the two along with Chelsea even though they are awful then us Newcastle and villa..

I don't think Akanji is past his peak. He's 29. Grealish is unfocused. Your understanding of 'definitely' differs to mine.

I don’t think Akanji can get back to his treble winning levels, but maybe he can. Grealish has no chance in my view and as you say he is unfocused. I doubt he will return to form playing at a lower level, if City can’t focus you then what can?

Also, I notice you didn’t disagree on Stones and Ake so maybe our definition doesn’t differ that much after all

But we’ll see how it goes

United won’t be near 5th/6th in my view. Adding a nutcase from Wolves is unlikely to get them 10 places higher
But adding Mbeumo and Watkins might, particularly when they don't have midweek European football to sap their resources.
