Will we win the league this season?

In my opinion the biggest error the club made was having virtually no pre season , 1 game against an Italian 2nd division side isn't preparation for the Premier league , even Chelsea who got to the final of the club world cup played two relatively competitive games against Leverkusen and AC Milan , so without doubt we could have played at least 3 , When Tottenham played City it was their 7th or 8th game and it showed , they looked fitter and more organised , Brighton also , particularly as the game wore on , first 6 or 7 games we're playing catch up , by the time we're up to speed the league may be out of our reach unfortunately...
How was it an error? we had the CWC , 4 weeks off 2 weeks pre season? Chelsea had virtually no break, lets see how they are compared to us when we get to January. After all it would hardly be the first season we've had shorter pre seasons than others followed by a sluggish start topped by a winning run after Christmas would it ?

I thought we usually start the season off well, dip around Nov/Dec then pick up March to May again

Just saying in my opinion we could have fit 2 or maybe 3 competitive pre season games in , given that Chelsea managed 2 and they were at the club world cup 13 days longer than us , with those extra minutes in the players legs we may have done better in the last 2 games , I appreciate we have had short pre seasons before but 2 or 3 games is a short pre season , this season we played one Italian second division side and Pep played 2 different teams for 45 minutes each , so no player even had one 90 minute game under their belt before the season started , this at a time when we are trying to integrate new players and a whole new coaching team...in my opinion 2 or 3 pre season games would have been useful ..

A trained full back would have been more conscious about not raising their arms but I have seen plenty of defenders giving away unconscious handballs purely because their arms are making their body bigger. Let's say then it was a combination of bad luck and defensive error.

We've added Donnarumma and Reijnders and so I think we are stronger and if Stones, Rodri and Bobb stay fit, we should be stronger than last season.

Little chance he stays fit.

We are going to be crap for 6 months then go on a PSG style run at the end of the season where it clicks and hit the cups hard.

We will be out of the title race though, however we will have enough for top 4/5 and it will give us freedom to hit the CL.

I can see a Chelsea 2021 with us.

You laughed at the post, but I don't know why. breaking that X post down:

"I’m telling you now, this season is going to be rough" - fact. We'll see dozens of games like the last two this season. ratio likely to be similar.

Next two games are a must not lose rather than must win. We’ve no chance of winning either.- That is a very fair assessment. I will be there on Sunday to cheer the boys on but let's be honest we're not winning that and as for visit to emirates we might as well not go.

I genuinely can’t see how we finish in the top half. - Genuine possibility unless Pep and the players pull their finger out. We currently have one win in three and same goes for the next three games (beat Burnley). That's hardly a top half win ratio.

hope I'm wrong and we improve but we're not the machine we were few years ago and it's best to admit that early on.

When you’ve been there, done it and bought the T-shirt you don’t react in such a childish, entitled way, as the poster on Twitter has done, is perhaps what @Sibierskii was referring to. We’re 3 games into a 38 game season and only need 37 more points and we’ll be safe…….

How do you know its a fact before its happened? Yeah we haven't started well but we've been here before and things can quickly improve.

And also to say we aren't winning on Sunday is just fuckin daft. Of course we can win. You state things as fact yet its all emotional speculation.

We can’t afford to lose another game in the league until at least November. By that time you’d expect scousers and Arsenal too of lost a couple by then. If we’re close by December and then strengthen in January then game on. A big if though.

Chicken licken, the world is caving in

not on the last 2 games no, champions don't tend to lose those game in the manner we did
but as always totally willing to be proved wrong

Long term, I can see some mileage in the argument that Reis and Echeverri will return next Summer to replace Stones and Bernardo.
However that's based on a number of assumptions and Leverkusen have already sacked their Coach.

As for this season, it feels more like that frustrating Bony-Mangala--Fernando era when City just drifted along after attracting too much mediocrity and just hoping that our best players would stay fit.
