Florentino Pérez, president of Real Madrid CF and the first chairman of the Super League, said: "We will help football at every level and take it to its rightful place in the world.

"Football is the only global sport in the world with more than four billion fans and our responsibility as big clubs is to respond to their desires."

Thats hilarious

We will get kicked out of every domestic trophy because of this as UEFA and FA will say if we join (which we have) we are out.
But we hate the champs league anyway dont we ?

No way are Liverpool City United spurs arsenal chelsea getting kicked out of league and all domestic cups . Emotions may be running high but without these 6 there is no demand no money to sustain the current model most clubs would go under .

Not gonna happen. Thats my view anyway.

I see it as a replacement of champs league only certainly in short term which for me is a good thing

I’ll await the club statement to say actually how involved we are before I crucify them.
If we have agreed in principle to this dependent on factors such as playing in the premier league, governing bodies agreeing and most importantly fans opinions then theres not much wrong with that.
However if we’re prepared to go ahead with the fans against it, the league against it and the governing bodies against it and press ahead and just think fuck em, well we’ll see.
Doesn’t look good though does it?
Our silence certainly doesn’t look good.

What am I missing

Were staying in Premier league fa Cup league Cup its replacing the champs league which we all hate anyway ?
If you're the CEO of Leicester or Everton or Aston Villa or whoever you would demand the Premier League and FA kicks the big six out of all domestic competitions otherwise you'd start legal action against those organisations.

No details of how they will help anyone in their, our, closed shop. Abysmal

Everyone mentioned has already said clubs joining will be punished basically.

Were over a barrell if we dont join may never get the chance again.

So we don't want to be left behind do we ?

Am reading it as a replacement for champs league so whats the issue thought we all hated champs league anyway ?
They want it as a replacement of Chumps League but already been said as a Non UEFA/FIFA endorsed tournament you can't have a foot in both camps. Take the cash and have every summer off or play in the biggest tournaments in the world. If it happens every player who has ANYTHING about them should leave. I'd rather see Foden, Doyle, Delap and yesterday's future of City at Everton than playing for the greedy 12. Thanks for the 125 year shirt, pity they just wiped their arse with it...

On a separate, but relevant, note......

....can anybody tell me who were the clubs who originally voted for the formation of the Premier League??

I've googled it, but can't find the answer.

Were we one of those clubs, way back in the early 90's to vote for the formation??

And if so, which other clubs did too??

IIRC - It was the “big five” at the time - United, Liverpool, arsenal Everton and Spurs - and the fishy one was Spurs chairman Alan ‘apprentice’ sugar who had inside interests - he was owner of Amstrad who made satellite dishes for sky, who... well you know the rest

I don’t share the general outrage. We’re still
committed to fulfilling the domestic league program and presumably domestic cups. The new comp will be broadly similar to the current CL - soulless meaningless matches aplenty with a couple of good games in the knockout stages - only this way we get a bigger slice of the pie and fuck over our corrupt enemies at UEFA.

If you think the whole CL circus is shite you won t be interested in the new comp anyway and if you love the CL you will love the new comp even more.

Everyone’s a winner.
