William Carvalho

Fernandinho can do the defensive and offensive role, can Carvalho do the same ?
No, but he's better in the defensive role and can play CB if needed (I think, he did when he was younger anyway). Maybe in the future he might be able to play in the more attacking role, but not yet

Is he better than Matic ?

i really think we only need a world class CB (only kompany natasic at the moment) , LB ( clichy looking to moe on) and a DM ( garcia has improved greatly , but still need one more to replace barry)

becuase of his age ( 21) , he looks to a be vibale option

I definitely think we need a DM and I think Txiki and Manuel realize we need one, that's why we went for Fernando in January.

Fernandinho can do an excellent job there but he is much more of a lung-busting central midfielder who likes to do the complete midfielder job, and like Yaya he isn't disciplined enough in my opinion to do an out and out sweeping up job.

Zuculini is coming in but I think he will replace Rodwell as I can see him going on loan, so Carvalho would be a Garcia replacement.

No, but I can't think of anyone who is. He has the potential to be as good, if not better though

This is just another area that needs maintaining to its current high standard, so that when Yaya /Fernand are rested, we have good enough cover to step in, midfield has been our most consistent area on the pitch this season.
We also need a top CB, that is the priority, if we'd had one at the start, we'd be in a far better position in the league.
A replacement / upgrade for Dzeko, who looks to be on the way out.

Manuel Pellegrini is a big admirer of the Sporting Lisbon starlet - who has attracted interest from United - and has been quoted a £32.5m fee for the Portugal Under-21 midfielder
By Paul Clennam

Manchester City have joined rivals United in the race to land Sporting Lisbon starlet William Carvalho, Goal can confirm.

City have scouted the powerful 21-year-old defensive midfielder on several occasions in the last month and are aware of United having registered official interest in the player.

It is City’s understanding that the Portugal international has no firm preference in terms of his next club but is keen to move to a side playing Champions League football next season.

Manuel Pellegrini is a keen admirer of Carvalho, who made his full international debut in last year’s World Cup play-off against Sweden, while City’s director of football Txiki Begiristain has been told the player would be available for a fee of £32.5 million.

The player himself has admitted to being flattered by the interest of United, who Goal understands will have around £180m to spend on squad reinforcements in the summer.

Speaking after Sporting’s 2-1 win over Braga earlier this month, Carvalho said: “It’s nice being praised and to know there are some big clubs interested in me.

“[My future could be with] Manchester United or Real Madrid. It’s just nice to have a great European club after me, but at the moment I’m just totally focused on Sporting and doing my best until the end of the season. At the end of the campaign, we will see what happens.”

City are focusing much of their transfer activity on Portuguese-based talent and maintain an interest in Porto pair Eliaquim Mangala and Fernando.
