No it isn't. Considering the lineup that we we fielded against Chelsea and on the balance of play they had, 5 goals was a deserved result. To call them clinical would be doing them a disservice. Only 1 of the 5 goals were a direct result of a keeper's error: choosing the wrong side of goal for a Hazard FK and not getting to the ball to save it in time. But I think it would be harsh on him to inflate the importance of that goal in this debate. It was a well worked freekick and Hazard exercised great skill to deceive the keeper to score it. Let's not forget Hart has made worse mistakes at FKs in the past. The Bertrand Traore flicked goal was fluke-ish and the reality is that if he had been in a position to catch or parry the ball before it dropped in to the top corner, then he would have been poorly positioned in normal circumstances. He also saved the penalty from Oscar and was brave coming off his line and forcing errors from attackers, and made an excellent reflex save at close range.

Prior to the Chelsea game, he hadn't conceded in the FA cup this season, and he has conceded 6 goals in the 5 LC games, not outstanding, but it us up to the defence infront of him to the bulk of the work towards keeping clean sheet. Pantlimon's outstanding record in 2013-14 was a result of two factors: better form from the outfield players, most notably attackers, allowing us to batter opponents into submission; And a relatively easy semi-final opponent in a porous West Ham, compared to an organised and determined Everton this season.

If Willy plays, forget winning the trophy. Nothing against him, but playing him would give Liverpool a massive boost.

It's the final. City should play their best team. And that means Joe Hart in goals.

Joe was brought in for the FA Cup Final against Wigan and it was an unmitigated disaster. Not really Joe's fault but it was very damaging to Club morale to dump Pants!

I agree. Every player is rusty if he doesn't play. Hopefully his mistakes are finished and he'll play a blinder. Team spirit is more important than individuals or fans jumping on the bandwagon. There is also no guarantee Joe wouldn't make a mistake. Willy deserves to play if it's previously been agreed he'd play the domestic cups.

Really / football the one man game ! the way are going on , you think Willy Caballero had no arms !
 
Willy wins us the Cup then Joe wins us 3 points on Wednesday.

We have to dream or should that be believe!
 
It seems Willy will play in the final regardless of our better judgement. It's up to us to just give him our full support and hope he plays a blinder.

Just bear in mind that we'll need to score three to win. Why?
  1. We never keep clean sheets vs Pool so that's one conceded.
  2. Willy never keeps clean sheets vs anybody so that's two conceded.

If Willy starts, he could rise to the occasion (make your own jokes). He's had a few really shaky games but when the pressure was on in the SF 2nd leg he stood up and performed well.

That said, questions of fairness to him shouldn't enter into Pellers decision making process. Joe is our best keeper and is more than capable of playing to a very high level in both our upcoming games ergo he gets picked.

Sentimentality and fairness have no place in the world of top level sport. Willy's had his chance and has fluffed it.
 
But if Willy Caballero was dropped who knows what effect that would have on team morale ? These guy's may what Caballero in net for the final,

You do know our players have eyes right? They'll have seen in both training and in games that Hart is by far the better keeper so why would players wanting to win a final want the weaker keeper in net?

If we win it is better to win with willie Zaba and kolarov, then we can have the perfect defence at anfiield.
And if hart get injured ,we have a cupwinner goalie as his substitute ,as hard as you i want a win at Wembley

There are too many "IF'S "in your statement, here's a few more.
IF Willie plays we have the best goalkeeper sat on the bench.
IF zabba plays, I don't have a problem, as he is the equal of Sagna.
IF kolorov plays, I do have a problem, as he cant defend as well as clichy.
IF hart gets injured or sent off ,I don't care, because he is different class than willie and I and many others will take that gamble.
IF hart plays we will still have a cup winning goalkeeper on the bench at Anfield as willie will get a medal for being a SUBSTITUTE
IF we want to win the cup, you play your best team you do not give the opposition a chance.
IF pellers plays him and it appears he will, he will be slaughtered by city supporters, IF willie makes a mistake that costs us the game.

Its a final for gods sake.... our players will be exhausted after a 3000 mile round trip this week. I honestly think we should rest them all for the midweek league game, and put out exactly the same team we did against Chelsea last week. After all it worked for the midweek game last time ; )
