Although born in Russia she moved to Kazakhstan as they invest more in that particular sport and have a better training facility. In doing so, she agreed to represent them on the international stage.

She did not move to Kazakhstan for more investment. She was thrown out of the Russian tennis federation due to lack of progress. Kazakhstan hardly invest anything in players, more on infrastructure. She represents them at tournaments but still identifies as Russian. Still lives in Moscow, has a Russian passport etc
