Wimbledon 2023 | Alcaraz beats Djokovic in the final

Murray loses first set on tie break,to be fair neither of them will get close to winning it,Murray hasn’t been the same player since his operation on his hip and the other fella just isn’t good enough to win it ..
Sissy pants has played some blinding powerful shots but not consistently enough to show he could go all the way

Sissy pants has been in two Grand Slam finals and is ranked in the top five and only 24 years old

He is clearly very good and capable of winning Wimbledon. He could need a bit of luck along the way what with the likes of Djokovic and the Spanish lad in it, but lesser players than him have won grandslams before.

Is £1.5m over a nine year career all that much? It’s only what a head teacher of a secondary school earns in a decade.

Being the 142nd best in the world at something is very decent.

We’ve probably got players in the Premier League who aren’t in the top 142 players in footy on five times that in one year.

Edit - I’ve just had a look and Phil Jones was on £5.7m a year at United until last month.
Remember out of that £1.5M he has to pay for a fitness coach as well as a tennis coach plus his travelling expenses. :-)

Tsitsipas is a very good player, but he always seems to be lacking when he comes up against the best. He looked very good in Barcelona until he came up against Alcaraz in the final and then got trounced.

I’d expect him to win this match, but there’s no way he’ll win the tournament.

I always wonder ehy tennis players put balls in their pocket. I always felt it would be uncomfortable or restricting running with tennis balls in your pocket

it's already hard enough with my tackle.

Any reason they do it?

Because if the first serve doesn’t work they only have 25 seconds to play the second ball. Plus concentration and if a ball is on the floor they could twist their ankle or fall.

Because if they don’t make the first serve they instantly have another ball ready-
They get totally used to it and won’t notice it during play.

Tennis must be a decent gig

Broady has never won a tournament, more losses and wins, never got past round 3 in a grandslam and still made $1.5m in prize money

That 1.5m is gross earnings though and out of that comes travel and accommodation, trainer, physio, nutritionist, sport scientist etc etc.

I know a very decent standard Swedish player with good earnings on paper but their career is fully funded by their wealthy parents.
