In Aug 2012 we drew our second game to Liverpool, and didn't have a great start. I think Wiki has let Patrick down or it should be 2011 possibly.

Only off by a century there :D

Yep just checked it was 7 2011 cross seasons, I forgot about the Everton loss :)
No. You're off by a century. Wiki is talking about 1911. Not 2011.

9 wins in a row in all competitions. Is this a record?

It equals our record. set in 1912, I believe.

One more to break it.

Mind you, you'd never realise we've won nine on the bounce if you took any notice of the media.

They're far more interested in scum's winning streak of one.

True, thought MOTD made a good point addressing it though.

I just heard on talksport that United have the chance to close the gap on Chelsea with their seventh win in eight games. We were not mentioned.

If we'd beaten Blackburn at Ewood Park in the FA Cup last season, we'd have had 14 wins on the run between beating Bayern on Dec 10th and losing to Chelsea on Feb 3rd. That would have equalled the record.
That can't be right pal???

From the BBC's preview:

Manchester City are chasing a 10th successive win in all competitions - which would be a new club record

I think it is. We drew at Southampton on 7 Dec then won in Munich a few days later, which was the first win in the sequence. We beat Arsenal 6-3 then won at Leicester in the League Cup. Four consecutive wins in the league up to Swansea on New Years Day made it 7 on the bounce and winning at Blackburn would have been 8.

Then it was West Ham in the LC semi, followed by PL wins against Newcastle & Cardiff and the second leg at West Ham. Then Watford in the FA Cup and Spurs in the PL. After that we lost at home to Chelsea.

So that would have been 14 consecutive wins.

You've missed the Blackburn replay.

Bayern
Arsenal
Leicester
Fulham
Liverpool
palace
Swansea

Blackburn DRAW

West Ham
Newcastle
Blackburn
Cardiff
West Ham
Watford
Tottenham

So it would have been 15 wins on the bounce. But all "if".... If Liverpool had beaten Chelsea...

Everyone seems to have missed the most important point here. The very fact that the possibility of breaking this record has literally just crept up on us just shows that nobody knows how really good we are, and I mean really, really good. The media missed it, we missed it on Bluemoon, the club probably missed it too. This record will have been set with do or die games against Roma and Bayern and difficult ties against Southampton away and our bogey side the Mackems. All done with a list of walking wounded as long as your arm and with style and panache.

Maureen must be shitting bricks.
