Winter comfort food

Love a sausage and bacon casserole, with a bit of paprika thrown in. Served with mash and green beans.

Or any beef stew. Especially with a good red wine.

Definitely. Made a sausage cassoulet the other week which I'll be making again as soon as I can remember what was in it.

A huge bowl of rice pudding.......Kiddin its still Satans cocks snot

Tater 'ash - proper Mancunians will know what I mean. Home made chicken soup and dumplings. Bacon ribs and cabbage. Black peas. Black pudding.

Had proper tater ash for tea, when I went round to see me parents after work, it's gets no better than that when it's brass monkey weather

Junior blue #2 would have tater 'ash every other night. No-one else can stand it :-)

I do like pickled red cabbage and / or beetroot with my 'ash too.

Everybody and everybody's mum makes it slightly differently but its all great. I swear by mine but miss that made by my late mum too. Something about meat and veg stewed for hours to make that thick glutenous veg laden loveliness. Eaten with a spoon. Anyone who uses a knife and fork are plain wrong.

A spoon and lots of bread for soaking up the juice
