Winter Solstice. 21st December

Pagan tradition suggests feasting on wild boar, drinking mead, dancing naked around standing stones and sacrificing Young virgins.

The first 3 I do most weekends anyway but we are right out of young Virgins in mid Cheshire.

Are we even going to be able to tell? It's been overcast for ages. I haven't seen the sun for at least a week! which suits me perfectly actually.

My birthday is tomorrow. I suppose that means I'm the bringer of light, and new hope!

Having said that, I was born shortly after midnight... right in the middle of the longest, darkest night of the year. So it could mean I'm a bit of a coont.

Although sunrise will continue to be later for a few weeks sunset will will be later in greater amounts so yes the days get longer

Anyone for a dance naked at the henge? Or any field I'm not fussy ;)

I've always felt the first sign of spring is the start of the Six Nations....
Slightly early, always think hail, rain or snow Boat race and Grand National time is when you should be out and about.

Sorry, I ought to clarify that. It's the first sign of spring because by the end of the tournament it IS spring...see what I mean?
