Winter sun holiday advice.

In our winter I would always be mindful of sunset times. When we went to Barbados, we were not prepared for the sun falling off the end of the earth at 5.30pm or whatever it was. I like a bit of daylight. Think Cuba is about 6.30pm in November.

Sister loved Cape Town. 25 degrees, City, Beach and loads of trips out. They went on a 2 night Safari and visited a Vinyard amongst other things. Similar time zone to UK too so no jetlag on way back.
Cape Town and Camps Bay are fantastic for winter sun

BANGKOK: The Test & Go scheme and Thailand Pass registration are expected to be scrapped by June 1 if there is no surge in infections or fatalities during the Songkran festival in April, says the Tourism and Sports Ministry.

have a look at Costa Rica - the main season is November to April, start of the dry season to the end of it, and the start/end will be quieter than Dec/Jan/Feb for sure. Awesome weather, awesome scenery and food is better than Cuba. November (i guess) will still be a bit wet but as with those countries it's downpour stuff. Temperature anything around high 20s and early 30s?

we're going again in July, which is a mini 'dry' season in the wet season to experience that. Will probably take in South Nicaragua as well for a few days but Costa Rica is beautiful.
Our daughter has just arrived back from a 23 day holiday in Costa Rica and loved it.She`s a very competent surfer and had 10 days of that with a further 3 days in the jungle. The remainder of the holiday was exploring the country and without doubt she`ll be going back again.

consider it,had 2 cncelled last 2 years,my mrs and son can't take another cancellation again

I did a similar break to Cuba - fantastic holiday. Go for the maximum * your budget can afford. The food was terrific - thai, indian, chinese, cuban, american etc. Varadero is a government creation so, as well as Havana, make sure you get out and see the island.
We`ve had three holidays in Cuba and just love the place.
Our daughter got married over there and 14 of us were able to stay at the same hotel within a stones throw away from the incredible sea and beaches.
The Cubans just love the Brits and likewise we`ve always found them to to be very jovial and pleasant.

All fingers crossed for announcement mid April. I'm planning to fly on June 1st if they scrap the restrictions.. Many desperate in Thailand to open up and earn some money and get back to some sort of normality.

Back to the drawing board on this. My wife has said that she doesn't want to go to Cuba now. This has come after her reading a number of Google reviews that have put her right off.

Taking into consideration the COVID-19 pandemic, do you reckon its too risky going to a country that's seen to have a real problem with poverty?

I'm leaning towards going somewhere in America but my wife is leaning towards Thailand with possibly Singapore mixed in too. She's also mentioned Mauritius.

I can't sit on a beach for two weeks, I need something more than that so we've got to get the balance right.

Any suggestions appreciated.

We've been to Mexico before and are after somewhere different.
One of the best winter trips I did was a week in Sri Lanka where we were up at crack of dawn most days being ferried around by a local who took us to some amazing spots. Was fairly hectic but brilliant people with genuine warmth made it what it was. We followed it with a week in the Maldives where we sat in the sunshine doing fuck all but eat and drink for the whole time.
was a fantastic fortnight.
