Wolves (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Impressed with the whole team. Everyone had a good game and contributed to the win.

On that performance we will score a lot of goals in the final third of the game during the season. Renewed energy and on the front foot.

Just re reading the Hugo Viana thread and how both he and Pep are clueless. It’s hilarious. People who think they know more than these professionals just talk bollocks.
I always appreciate such threads, because you can easily separate people you wanna read and not, thus put on ignore. Long term it makes this place much better;)

More running into space than I’ve seen us do for ages.
All the new boys are confident little puppies and a good team spirit running through them.
If I’m picky there needs to be way more work done on goal celebrations as they are lame and Pep should be addressing this ;-)

Did Pep mention anything about the ref and how poor he was? Worried that was just the start of what will come
Standard, stonewall yellow on Bobb not given, first offence by Tijani carded (correct decision) only carded Wolves once result a formality. Could be wrong but think he was the VAR man for the ridiculous Palace decision.
You could see the frustration from the players, get ready for another corrupt season from the whistling wankers!.

Lovely. Nice movement on and off the ball and we’ve got goals throughout the team again too. It created space for Haaland to operate more effectively and it was miles easier on the eye too.

Trafford did very well.

Be interesting to see how well we do in moving a few players on over the next couple of weeks and whether anyone comes in.

Very impressive performance all round. All the new boys were excellent.Key points-Stones block in the first half, the speed of our play, quick passing, movement up the pitch,3 fantastic goals from distance, lethal.
Trafford looks confident and brave, Bobb is such an intelligent player,Rejiinders on the front foot, and Ricos quick cross for the first goal was clever.Team spirit seems good, hunger and desire back with more youth, can’t wait to see how the season unfolds.

They say you shouldn’t complain following a comprehensive win but the ref’s performance was pretty much that of a homer. We were getting nothing from him.

On Oscar's intelligence, it would have been easy for him to pass to Erling in the build up to the second goal as he was running to his right, but he had the vision - and intelligence - to notice that Reijnders was better placed.

That intelligence, along with his quick feet, means he has a very bright future.

Great Result and performance! The only negative is Doku….defo a decent squad player at best.
Great result, decent performance.

Positives everywhere

Negatives, we need a left sided fwd that isn't Doku, and you can see that we will still be very vulnerable in transition again this year.

A fit stones is key.

Excellent start to the season.
Great to see us placing our shots rather than trying to boot it as hard as possible.
Cherki’s back heel, Rudolph’s chip and then his awareness of where big Earl was for the third- all outstanding.
Some of the Match thread posters will be squirming after that.
Love this club.

Nice to see all the doom mongers and the "I’m not happy with that side" brigade proven comprehensively wrong by both Pep and the players.
I’ll never understand how someone can be unhappy with a team that Pep picks, before a game kicks off.

It’s like they think that football managers just get the team sheet out and tick off eleven names like they’re picking Lottery numbers.

Surely it’s not difficult to understand that football managers (especially Pep) watch videos of opposition tactics, work on things in training to see what and who would work best against those opposition tactics and then pick the players they think will enact that best in the match… as well as understanding that there’s a balance of rotation across the season that needs to be taken into consideration?

It’s far more detailed and nuanced than ‘just pick all the best players’ or ‘just pick all the new players, that’s what we’ve signed them for’. Sometimes, even a player in-form is not the right player to pick for a certain game and that there is a skill set of a certain individual in the squad, who isn’t always one of the best players, who will come in and do well against a certain style of tactics from the opposition.

Fair enough, after a game, we can see that some of our tactics or some individuals who were picked didn’t work out. But not before a game because people haven’t seen the tactics Pep’s worked on at that point.

Reindeer looks some player. I hope he's not Rudolph though, as I hate red, but he can still lead us as we slay the opposition.
