Wolves (A) Post Match Thread

I thought Gundogan had a mixed match. He was playing well with some intricate stuff early but was more exposed as the match got more physical

Fair play to Wolves who played well and hurried us so that we weren't at our best, but fuck me, we were still unlucky
Blatant penalty and hitting the woodwork three times

Their goal!!
Well none of our players could be arsed appealing for the handball so no way the ref's assistant is going to even think about putting his flag up

A special mention for Bendy Mendy who I thought was distinctly average today

Too many players underperforming for us today. Vinnie was all over the place, particularly in that first half. Dave was well below what he is capable of. Sane was poor when he came on, up until that run. Gundogan didn't impose himself on the game. Yes; the goal should have been chalked off, but that doesn't alter the fact that we've played a lot better than that. Take the point and move on.

Pleased to get away from there with a point, i suppose you have to "hand" it to Wolves for causing us some problems.
For all the unjustified stick Gundogan got from the usual suspects, he came up with the cross for the goal and was far from our worst player today. Walker and Mendy were a liability at the back today with their careless passing at times.
Sane came on and couldn't seem to control the ball for the first 10 minutes. When we should have been pressing in the last 10 minutes for a winner, Walker and Sane decided it would be more fun to gift the ball to Wolves 4/5 times instead and let them break on us.
Overall, sloppy at the back and not clinical enough up front but still managed to leave with a point after falling behind to a blatant hand ball.

What is it with some of these idiots in here. Gundogan to blame for poor performances of others.

Maybe try wearing some for a start.

We conceded a goal that twice should have been chalked off and immediately had a stone wall penalty denied.

We hit the woodwork a further three times before we scored the only legitimate goal of the game.

Like fuck it was a fair result. It was a one off that happens from time to time when the PL are desperate for a closer title race.

Agree about the goal, but the ref never saw the handball and neither did any of the city players. At the time None of them complained and in walkers post match interview he said he didn’t know it was handball until told after. None of them saw it.

fair because wolves played well, created more chances against us than most teams,

And yet still half as many as we created against them.

had a clear game plan which worked.

Thanks only to the officials.

Yes it was a handball clearly but they got into great positions and could have scored others.

As could we, and in larger numbers.

in terms of the way the two teams played it was a fair result

Bollocks.

we were poor by our standards and sloppy all over the pitch.

And yet still scored the only legitimate goal and hit the woodwork three times.

a better attacking team would have beaten us today.

And a better set of officials would have seen us win comfortably.

I really don’t get the City fans that feel we only deserve to win by scoring five or six. Why should we HAVE to be at 100% to win a game if football when other teams can rely on luck and dodgy decisions?

Got what we deserved. Tempo was shite and worrying signs the KDB injury has left us half the team.

Gundogan is average and every game we have dropped points in, there is a recurring theme, he's in the midfield.

Nowhere near good enough today.

As for Mendy, horrible defender IMO. Stands square on and gets done every time.

Your comments re Gundogan are unfair but I share your concerns re Mendy, a liability when we are under pressure.
Brilliant free kick from Gundogan in for our equaliser, he had put in a similar one a few minutes earlier that was begging to be finished off.

I wish pep would opt for Bernardo centrally over gundo. This will allow the proper wingers to get game time and confidence. You can't help but feel Sanes lack of confidence is down to lack of game time same for Marhez of late. I feel that getting these players on form will give more then an inform Gundo.
