Wolves (A) Post-Match Thread

Jesus Christ there are some fanny merchants in here, Mendy did ok until he was booked for absolutely fuck all then got done a couple of times early in the second half off a pace merchant because he couldn't risk the second booking, if we cant stop the cross (its impossible to stop the cross every single time) then we should be dealing with them better in the box.

All in all a fantastic performance full of vigour, determination and no lack of quality football from a team that were embarrassed in our last game and clearly lack a lot of match fitness. If we manage to get a couple more signings over the line this next week or so then there is no reason we cant go on and win the league.

Just got to work, having a coffee and watching the post game show, godamnit I can't understand this Carragher fella, his accent sounds like he's mentally impaired.
Anyway, City were great.

impressive when you think we are a couple of weeks behind a very good wolves team, plus for us a bit of a bare bones squad
particularily like the way we closed out the game when wolves scored.

Mendy was great in the first half and wasn't nearly as good second half. Fatigue and the yellow card really hindered him, it seems. With that said, Traore would've burned any of our full backs a couple times. With the exception of Walker but he plays on the other side.

All in all, can't really complain. First game of the season against a good squad with no preseason and plenty of injured players.

I must have been watching a different game to some.

i thought I saw Mendy get absolutely rinsed 2, 3, 4 times down the left in H2, followed by crosses into the centre of our box....could have easily been 3-2 at 60 minutes.

That was a lack of cover ahead of him due to Wolves changing how they played, took City 20 mins to figure
3 points we wouldn’t have come away with last season. We weathered that storm and lucky we did cos there was still glimpses of last season at the back.
Mendy is far too casual, I think we’ve been waiting too long for his pace to return after his injuries and I don’t think it will looking at him going into another season.
All things considered regarding injuries and with no pre season that was a nice surprise to come away with the 3 points and no injuries.
The balls on Torres taking 21. It just didn’t look right for me. Maybe in time. I think it would’ve been more fitting, I say half in jest, to retire Dave’s iconic 21

Retiring numbers is a load of bullshit. No from me.

I doubt I will ever understand the media. A player punches the ball into the net to force a draw and Wolves are lauded for having our measure. Last night we miss a number of chances as do Wolves but apparently we were lucky to win 3-1. The number of players we had missing would have made the headlines if that was Liverpool in the league cup, but seeing as it's City, just a minor irrelevance.

Very good result. Shows how far Wolves have come that some were having them for a win. Thought our penalty was a bit soft but I've seen a lot softer. A bit of a game of two halves but we got the result and played till the final whistle. Great to get 3 goals away from home and as usual we're without some key players. Hoping Stones has a great season, things not gelled for him of late. Still think he can be a great player for us.
