Fernandinho does not have the legs to play CDM. As lone defensive midfielder in our open style you have to cover lot of ground and he simply is not up to it anymore.

Sad but true. IMO, we lost the title because we lost prime Fernandinho. Rodri simply does not have his defensive acumen to bust opposing counters. I wish we would have gotten Frenkie De Jong .

Yes, let's resign Zabaleta and Toure, good players never age and lose form.

Those players visibly lost their legs - although you could argue Yaya never had any to begin with.

There are little to no visible signs of Fernandinho doing so. People just sees the age he's at plus the way Guardiola's phasing him out and just automatically assume it's happened, when it hasn't.

Pep is a great manager, but he has his oversights and weaknesses. His handling of the DM position last season was an example and he got it wrong.

Last time Fernandinho played regularly at DM was 20 months ago. That's a long time for a 35 y.o. player. Since then he played just once at DM in the league (Southampton) and we lost, he wasn't good.

How could one see visible signs of Fernandinho losing his legs when he plays at CB where the demands are different? CB is the least demanding position in terms of running.

Besides, even if Fernandinho is still capable of playing decently at DM, he is turning 36 in May and can't get away with aging. He can't play often in such a demanding position.

Further, people have short memories. In Pep's first season, Fernandinho wasn't great and Pep had to play Toure at DM in the second half of the season. I'd say that Rodri in 19/20 was better than Fernandinho in 16/17. Also, Fernandinho got injured in February 2019, Pep played Gundogan in his place and we did even better defensively by conceding just 4 goals in the last 14 games.

Short memories, lazy observations and dubious conclusions characterise much of the discussions around Fernandinho, Rodri and Gundogan. Our problems last season were due to a severe crisis at CB, and much less to Fernandinho's absence at DM.

Fuck knows who's fit for Wolves, are any players still in quarantine, will Pep be in the dugout?.
Think this will be the side Ederson, Walker, Laporte?, Ake, Cancelo, Rodri, De Bruyne, Foden, Mahrez?, Sterling, Jesus

Subs: Steffen, Mendy, Stones, Gundogan, Bernardo?, Aguero, Torres

Outside of those eighteen I can only think of Zinchenko who is a regular part of the first team squad. Still a couple of players short in my eyes

Nightmare fixture first up for us.
Against a team that has our number and has become a jinx team.
That and a seemingly unprepared squad with Pep still in quarantine and a poor transfer window thus far.
Not expecting anything from this one.
