I’d prefer it if there were no guaranteed starters. The players selected should be those in form and those Guardiola thinks best capable of beating the opponent. They all need to up their game.

In terms of preparation, we might have played more games, but that would have necessitated traveling to the far corners again, so more wasted days and less time spent on conditioning and the training park. It probably won’t be smooth, but three narrow victories, even if unconvincing, will do before the international break. The games then come thick and fast and we can find rhythm.

Think they started together once, vs Newcastle and it was 4-0. They looked incredible together.
I love the balance of that pairing.
I’m personally desperate to see Stones and Gvardiol paired together. I think that might be the best centre back pairing the league has ever seen.
