Wolves (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Was definitely some luck in there tonight, and Gvardiol is a big factor too.
That was infuriating to watch at times.

The old guard has had a lot of criticism this season, and rightly so, but it must drive them mad playing with players as inconsistent (I'm being kind) as nunes, Doku, Gvardiol, Nico, marmoush et al.

Bernie was top draw tonight, KDB got the goal and gundy was busy again.

Awful to watch at times, but job done.

About as exciting as watching rice pudding skin over Wheres the pace gone, the quick attacking football, the oh my god that’s superb moments gone,it’s just endless now just forward backwards sideways back to the GK repeat and repeat again,we might have strung a few wins but this football we play now is mundane,I personally cannot wait for this season to end apart from winning the FA cup
Watch Corrie

You obviously didn't go to school in the 80s where rice pudding and Jam was the dessert of the day.
And the jam sometimes bounced off the skin of the rice pudding depending how many times it got reheated.

Not the greatest game, but at least it yielded three vital points and a 'clean sheet' for us, and that's really all that matters at this late stage of the season ..... we probably should have been behind at half time, yet somehow we managed to lead at that point through KDB .... but there's probably nothing else of note to say about the game really, it was just a 'tough watch'.

But this line up did not play well or more to the point, Pep didn't. We were meandering for most of the second half playing keep ball but with no incision. 1-0 against a side with players like Cunha is always dangerous and lo and behold he hit the bar out of nothing. Marmoush played out of position, Gundo made a few good runs but wasn't often found but thought he was poor. Bernardo taking far too many touches on a lot of occasions and KDB slow and ineffective but smashing goal.
But the lads got through it which is all that matters

How many times in our title winning seasons have we played a line-up that "didn't play well" but came out with 3 points?

We've conceded 4 goals in our last 8 games and one of those was a nonsense penalty. That isn't just dumb luck.

The facts are this team keeps winning because they know how to control games, and so Pep will keep playing them. Wolves have good players who are capable of scoring from range, yet they still had way less possession and far fewer chances than us. In that second half they had literally one shot which was a speculative effort that hit the post. That's all the joy they had, and they are one of the most dangerous teams in the league at the moment.

People would rather play the kind of team we were putting out earlier in the season that was losing constantly because they were incapable of controlling the game. Remember how often teams cut through us with ease? Well we've fixed it now, but some seem to want us to make 11 changes to the team between games. Well, sorry to those people, but we aren't going to.

Shite. But three very important points.

Painful watching Gundogan and Bernardo walking about passing backwards after the amazing football we’ve become used to seeing.

Summer transfer window cannot come soon enough. I just hope the board show the ambition needed together us back to Centurions level and not more players like Nunes.
Hopefully a good one for a change. Januarys is looking worse every week with none of our big money buys starters bar Marmoosh who is only playing due to Haaland being out. Desperate for creativity and goal threats to be added

Bernado was much better, but I thought Gundogan missed a few passes that he would usually do in his sleep.

You might be a bit harsh on Gvardiol - he has been very good of late and matured a lot this season I think.

Phew, kind of. Tense with only a one goal lead but a very comfortable 2nd half in truth. Wolves had some decent chances, mostly in one flurry, that would have skewed perceptions.

A solid 1-0 win.

3 vital points.

Always going to get done when we start the oldies, but once they kicked in, they controlled the majority of the game.

Looking back to the dark months of this season, who wouldn’t take that and be very happy to challenge for the Wenger Trophy.

very good result . the team performance is stabilising but definitely we need huge rebuild for next year .

Some how we dug that out. I was surprised Pep took so long to make the subs as we looked very tired.

A few flashes from Doku. In tbe 2nd half he became isolated. Great constant support in the 2nd half
