Wolves (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Never seen us being this lucky before . Thankfully. Like a Sunday league team at the back the last 6 weeks and somehow keeping clean sheets.
I agree , never seen the woodwork come to our rescue so many times in a series of matches. Who knows what the outcomes would have been if we had conceded those chances.

Of course I hope the streak continues but in reality it hides how poor the defensive side of our game has been in the last month.

Pep needs to have a solution for the Cup Final because can't imagine Palace being so unlucky again.

Seems that there are a few who want us to lose, thus proving their earlier assertion that Pep, or the players, are no longer fit for purpose.

It’s all about being right.
Why does drawing attention to obvious flaws suggest that a poster is any less desperate to see a blues win?

During Pep's reign, do you honestly think that he's never had a go at them after a victory? Of course he has.

If you sit back and congratulate yourselves after scraping a win when the opposition should have wiped the floor with you (I'm not talking about the Wolves game here), you're kidding yourselves.

You’re ‘right’.

Such a lovely day.

Don't think I mentioned that, did I?

Like a lot on here I've recently been made to eat my own words, with both Doku and Nunes (not a fan of either) helping to win games, so personally I try to avoid pre-judging line-ups.

Having said that, the fact that it was either of them doing the business recently didn't reduce my excitement at all, so my argument above about even complainers wanting City to win definitely applies to me, for what it's worth.

Lol, no mate it wasn't a complaint just an observation. Mediocre with 3 points beats scintillating with 0 every day of the week
Think that the standard and amount of attacking play decreases every season, as the it draws to a close.
Nerves set in and teams play for a point, when they would have previously thrown caution to the wind.
There will be some dull, nervy performances in the last few rounds of matches.
Teams like Bournemouth, Wolves & Brighton, with nothing much at stake, may be the exceptions...

Thirty-five games played - the Prem table does not lie - every side is exactly where they deserve to be, no ifs, no buts, no maybes, no false positions - no cuddas - no shuddas. Our first proper dip in nine years (incredible in itself) and we're above must of the media darlings other megabucks clubs that we're told are having magnificent seasons. We take the rough with the smooth and when it's rough the Blue Moaners pile in with their opinions. The Blue Moaners who sit near me have totally different opinions - each one pointing the finger believing they have the answers. Thankfully, we have Pep making the decisions that win trophies for us - risk and reward unique footy - and not random fans .

Most of that is factually correct, albeit irrelevant - I didn't refer to any decision-making, or take a swipe at Pep.

Phrases like 'We're keeping clean sheets now' - whilst accurate - don't tell the whole story when the team is shipping golden chances left, right and centre. I don't see the problem in acknowledging that results-wise, we're probably punching above our weight at the moment.

Like the majority in here, all I care about at the moment is getting the job done, which we are managing to do - I say this with everything crossed.

Pointing out the fragility of the situation doesn't make somebody any less of a fan.

Christ, a forum without opinions would be as tedious as daytime TV - some people are just too bloody precious.

All about the results when we are half a team ,yes we are not hammering teams 4 and 5 nil anymore it was never going to stay that way especially with our main players missing and not on form ,everyone is entitled to an opinion of course but we have come a long way from where we were before the magic happened ,I never thought I would see us win anything to be honest and although I wasn`t happy with that I accepted it because it was my team always will be if we never win anything again I will be happy with how far we have come ,the media and all the jealous fans ex players giving us pelters don`t mean anything to me personally 4 in a row imagine that ! Champions League Fa cup`s League cup`s for fun wow just fucking wow CTID and I will die happy now I have witnessed what I have seen unreal we are literally the greatest team in the world ,we sang that loud and proud even when it wasn`t true .

Lol

I've not seen it since, but when Wolves spurned that early 2 v 1 overlap would it have been disallowed for an earlier offside?

Otherwise we rode our luck at the start, but gradually got stronger, albeit with a slightly disjointed performance.

Definitely onside. They might have looked at a possible foul when Wolves won the ball (off Gundo was it?) but it would have been very soft

Yeah I was behind the opposite goal so in no position to judge. I was just curious, because otherwise they should have been leading (and quite easily 2-0) before we'd even put two passes together.

Different story when Doku got going, but even then, we seemed to complicate matters and lose clear goalscoring opportunities.

No, after 35 games we're not punching above our weight - I won't repeat everything but we're exactly where we deserve to be. Teams can punch above their weight in spells - 35 games in - nah, no way.
