Wolves (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

First half hour we had energy and pressing. We moved the ball quicker and looked decent. The 60 minutes after was slow, unsure and disjointed.
Defence looked solid though which is a big improvement.

Not a master-class but some really good individual moments. Great energy at the off, which provided a superb, deserved (and very much needed early goal), also, some real heart shown from some of the lads later on. NO'R was my MOTM.

Thought we was good up to the goal and then the intensity dropped and it got slowly more poor from that point onwards. At one point the Wolves midfield parted like the red sea and Silva in acres of space must have felt like he was tripping and had no idea what to do with all the empty space to run into and kept looking sideways until the pennny dropped to move forward with the ball. Missed the second goal I was so bored I went for an early pint.

Our football flowed like treacle. Good job it was Wolves today, anybody else would have been a lot more of a struggle. Lovely goals from Omar and Antoine, and the latter was very unlucky with that shot off the bar. That would have taken some beating to not end up as our GotS.

What did folk make of the decision to award Wolves a corner when Donna, I think, kept the ball in. Lino was ten yards up the touchline and ran like a train to cover the distance to the corner flag and the ref was outside the penalty area. Both indicated a corner. They could not KNOW the ball went out, they guessed it did. One upon a time any doubt went to the defence. Now it goes to the opposition attack.

And I want to see that handball again. Arm sticking out? Natural position? Webb's directive of knocking handballs on the head is clearly being digested by refs. Once upon a time a sticking out arm was an unnatural position, now it's a natural position. Next season a goal post will be relabelled and it will be a crossbar.

With refs and VAR any decision is questionable when we play, as you well know DEB.

Maybe Simon but neither bust a gut to impact on the game. Love the pair of them and I'm hoping their return to form is PDQ ;-)
Agree they didnt change the game either way. Foden had some nice touches and could have had an assist for Semenyo but we just arent supplying Haaland with anything to feed off at present.....both look well short recently I would agree but that is a team issue as well as individual to both of them. Pep has said that Haaland needs to be rested.

Thought it ironic to see 2 crosses go in early from NOR and Nunes, and Marmoush scored from the second one - Haaland can only dream of that.

As well as Marmoush did in the first half, he lost the ball and spent a lot of his time in the 2nd half on his arse. City were in virtually keep-ball mode when Haaland came on, so I'm sorry to say that we saw his usual output: starved of the ball/chances, and he might as well have stayed on the bench.

I thought Rodri looked a bit stronger, and lasted well, and the defence was very well led by Guehi, who looks like he could be a great addition for us - as hoped and expected - and the same with Semenyo.

Much needed win and 3 points and hopefully no injuries, plus, a bit of a corner turned for us after a difficult month and we can build on it to deliver a strong finish to the season.

Doku and Savinho can get across their men too but are just putrid when they get a shooting chence.
Semenyo very cool and just passed it into the net.
Knows when to put a bit of force behind his shots too.
My point was more to do with Marmoushs movement for his goal. If that's Haaland we don't score there and the Wolves lad easily clears it away.

Good win
Not s great performance but who cares.
Seems we're battling 12 men every week though with all the 50 50 decisions going against us.

Good first half, shit second half. A win is a win.

Some lovely intricate football in the first 45, though. The benefits of a false 9 I guess.

Not sure Haaland touched it when he came on. Game was over I thought so not sure why he brought him on.
No he didn't. Something a few on here have picked up on. A bit worrying.
