Wolves - post match

Chilwell? Did you watch Leicester's last two games? He's too slow.

Robertson is an outstanding full back. TAA can attack but he can't defend. At City and Liverpool TAA would not need to defend. I think Walker is good. I'm happy enough with Zinchenko. Mendy deserves time to recover.

Fullbacks don't worry me. We got 100 points and then a domestic treble with these full backs.

The only thing that cheers me up this evening is that our problem is so glaring that I know what it is and how to solve it, and so does Pep. It's just get Laporte fit. That's it.
You think a fit Laporte will solve all outer current problems?

We face a period of transition.

Brought about mostly by bad planning, and epic bad signings.

Is Pep the man for the job ?,more importantly does Pep want to be the man for the job ?.

Lets face it...Pep has looked mostly disinterested this season,in my opinion this has trickled down to the team. His in game management has raised our Eye brows a few times.Did his wife returning to Spain affect his mental health ?,you have to wonder if this has affected him.

It is not all doom and gloom though. We have had 2 great season no mater what happens.

If Pep is not prepared to commit long term,or if our owners do have doubts he will ever deliver them the Champions League. What better time to act than at the beginning of a major squad rebuild.

No point giving Pep say £500,000 000 the end of this season,to see him leave 12 months later.

I will always be thankful for the success Pep has delivered. At the end of the day though City owe him nothing. He has been paid handsomely for delivering us success. If the Club decides it would rather have a new manager on a 5 year deal for the rebuild, than retaining Pep on a rolling 1 year contract i am cool with it.

League is done this Season. Now is the time to start the rebuild on the Pitch, out with the dead wood, and in with the future like Foden/Garcia

This is it really.Does he want to stay and do a job of work. Enough has been said without adding to it but after this game it is difficult to escape the conclusion we have become a soft touch and badly need a stabilising influence.

I accept Mendy's apology. Mature people won't hang him out to dry. We should have at least got a result tonight. Got to find a winning pattern somehow. Consistency. An ugly win the odd time maybe? Back to some basics. A leader on the pitch will have to emerge Come on lads. Get some rest because we go again in under 48 hrs.

And get someone in of similar quality to partner him and stop it all going to pot when he isn't fit.

I feel we’ll see a similar pattern to this in the second half of the season in the Premiership, even with the return of Laporte and, possibly, Sane: we’ll get some good wins against good opposition but we’ll probably lose another four or five games. I certainly don’t see any grounds at the moment to think we can go on a winning run of ten or more games. The efforts and achievements of the last two seasons have been phenomenal and a marvel - and privilege - to behold and though injuries have hardly helped our cause, this current squad, both individually and collectively, has its lost its way, has no leader and appears shellshocked by the relentless charge of the Dippers who look like eclipsing many of the records we have set. It was always going to be a tough, tough ask to win a third Premiership in a row but our efforts to defend it have been surprisingly lacking in belief, conviction and at times the quality - and qualities - which have brought such success. I don’t believe that this squad - which, as many on here have stated, is now in natural decline and in need of some serious rebuilding - can win the Champions League - even on a level playing field! - but still hope it can ‘sign off’ with a domestic cup - or two!
It's not in a natural decline at all. Where on Earth do you get that from?

The squad is young. The only old players are David Silva who is already effectively replaced and Aguero who imo has at least a season in him anyway.

Football fans who think City's days are done are making a massive mistake. City's central defence is rubbish. It's the worst it has ever been. That is the problem. It's easily fixed. Play last season's central defenders. Both are on the training pitch.

19 games in tells you how well your team plays over an extended period. But unless we get some more long term injuries, our squad will be stronger (more of our better players fit) in the last third of the season than has been the case so far.

Alexander Arnold can defend. He's very rarely caught out.

Ideal is to have world-class cover in every position. It was just our luck that in the one position where we lacked cover we picked up an injury requiring knee surgery.

Problems are deeper than that of course.
