Woman kicked off flight so fat kid can have second seat

Hardly surprising that an American company doesn't want to piss off fat people.
Their usual rules are that someone that size should buy two seats but the parents booked it and only bought one. Then the kid turned up late to check-in so they didn't realise until too late. Probably left them in an awkward situation as presumably they couldn't just turf the kid off once they'd let him on. Should have been handled better though and the woman will have been well compensated I assume.

That would be a fair way to charge, say a combined total of 110kg; anything over they charge extra.

Oh but no, because that would be discriminating now wouldn't it and we couldn't have that. FFS. Some people like. Everyone's just afraid of causing a stirr. Charge the ridiculously overweight ones the extra and you know what we might get some of that money back that they cost us, because obesity costs the healthcare up to 130 million each year. And that's Ireland, so never mind how much it costs yere lot in England.
That's how we should climb out of the recession, screw NAMA, get Michael O Leary onto it right away.

2 seats..disgusting, a 14 year old, needing to seats, even more disgraceful and social services should be called.

I know that Air New Zealand have discussed it at board level, their problem being the indigenous population, but if anyone makes a first move it will be O'Leary. If he does I think everyone will follow suit.

How about they advertise a flight to the states for £300 for 80KG anything over is £20 a kilo.

Unaccompanied minor will always have priority over a standby pax. On standby you have no priority. I fly standby all the time but only because if there are no seats left I can usually go on a jumpseat (crew seat). The STBY passenger may have paid 0 for the ticket and only airport taxes or more usually a fixed ZED price based on trip distance. Either way she should shut the fuck up or pay full price.

GD I understand you know your stuff about aircraft and travelling etc. Can you tell me at which obscene weight do you have to be to need 2 friggin seats?

As you have posted standby pax have little rights compared to pre-booked passengers. But I just think that someone who has over eaten for the preceeding 5+ years of his life and needs 2 seats to travel should not take precedent just because they are disgustingly fat.

Did the Yank parents never think 'Jees.... our Dwain looks a tad overweight?'

I'm with you with all that too but the fat fucker is bringing in more profit than the stanby pax and with a bit of luck you can sell him a shit load of inflight too.

I do think overweight pax should pay for 2 seats but the problem is where you set the limits. Just for your info we use an average weight of 84kg for pax in Europe. Not sure what they use in the states these days.
