A very stupid move by somebody at the FA, you have to wonder at the reason?
The reason was a sound one, in that we weren't doing very well in the CL, because it was out of season for the teams, it was also out of season for most of the international qualifiying games too, and the whole season needed messing with every 2 years for summer tournaments, so the FA wanted it in sync.

I don't think its made a huge amount of difference personally.

Do you not think the crowds have fallen?

Also making us have a wage cap has hindered us in the champions league more than anything else.

When I say us I also mean the whole league in general also.

They've fallen hugely, what I was saying I don't think we've improved either in the CL, or in international football that much.

Ha, sorry misread it as you didn't think it had made a difference moving to winter over summer schedule, oops lol

Agreed, ridiculous to pit them against the global leading PL, I'm an armchair fan now. Never even knew they were playing.

No but they were better and growing. Now in reverse. Another example of the FA damaging the game they are supposed to promote.

The last game of the season v Notts County (whatever happened to County?) when we took the title, the Academy Stadium was full. And I think there has been but two instances where I have had a ticket in the West Stand, which ordinarily is empty of paying fans. The game against MANUre at The Etihad broke the attendance record but the next home game at The Academy shrank to about 5% of that record. Don't know why people would come to one game and not the other. I think we have to see the women's game for what it is - women's football, and no matter how much smoke up arses the BBC and other broadcasting outlets can attempt to insert it will be just that - women's football. I have an ST for MCWFC and I can enjoy the spectacle but I know that it is just that - women's football.

The thing is people don't think of women's tennis like that and of course athletes are treat with real respect but women's football is still scorned by neanderthal man types.

I thought it funny when the woman beat the man at darts, it is certainly about time as imo it is a sport that the sexes should be equal at, snooker the same really, having played in various darts leagues there was always a mixed league on a Thursday night and there were some good woman darters then or I was a shit dart player myself maybe lol

Women’s Tennis is interesting- in some ways on the faster surfaces women’s tennis is a better spectacle than the men’s game which can descend into a serving shoot out at times. I was initially impressed by the complete absence of theatrics in women’s football but watching last summers World Cup - there were plenty on display. Women’s football is never going to match the men’s game for pace and power but over time the technical gap will close. In the last 3 years the standard of goalkeeping in the women’s game has improved immeasurably- and it still has a way to go! Women’s football will continue to develop but it’ll never rival or compete with the men’s game but that doesn’t mean it won’t be a good spectacle or won’t be successful. It’s also worth remembering that women’s football will continue to attract a whole legion of young women who have never been attracted to the men’s game in huge numbers. On a personal level I have far more affinity with our women’s team than I do with any of our CFG franchises.

Worth noting women's tennis was only about 10-20 years behind the men's game, which has allowed it to develop into what it is today. Also worth noting it's only very recent that pay parity has achieved.

Women's football was held down for decades. It's going to be at least 50 years before we can talk about it in it's own right.

I suspect over the whole FAWSL it'll be several hundreds. I'd be surprised if it crossed the 1k mark. City usually get the other side of a thousand but we probably have the best women's stadium in the league, and it's handy to get to!
The Stadium, it's a nice looking stadium but it's a horrible stadium, cold (even in summer !) with not much to it , run by control freaks, do we really need that amount of stewards at a women's game ? Standing open one match then not open the next ! The matches should run on the same ways a none league game is. Get the ends closed off , open all the stadium up and get a proper bar built in it ! The club needs telling they is more to our fan base then corporates and kids ! We've had biggish crowds there that always seem to cause problems for the stewards with getting people in on time ! I'm sure people have been put off coming back because of the "match day experience" more then the football !

This is rapidly becoming the worst aspect of supporting a football team. It's necessary but I'd sooner sit in the stadium for an hour than queue for five minutes. Yer right about the stadium - it's temperate in Summer and fuckin' freezin' in Winter. If yer stand in that space as yer get in at the NE corner there can be a blast off the Asda carpark and there a freezing cold blower at the bottom of the stand. Mind, I suppose that's what the Bovril folk had in mind when they put the stuff in cups. And at the FAYC on Thursday no fuckin' pies again, and when I said I'd have a sausage roll, I'm sure it had fuckin' raisins in it, and some chips, I was told that there weren't any chips but they had wedges - chips if yer in Wilmslow, I said, chips if yer in 'Apper'ay!

I am convinced they would get more support if they went back to playing in the summer, people who are missing the men’s team would give it a go. Also the fact it was moved to help the National Team and the CL sides hasn’t worked so what was the point?

The crowds where no better in the Summer season then they now in the Winter seasons, let it grow organically. I don't think the crowds would double with a move back to the summer, there's a hardcore of fans that will watch the team which ever season the game is played in . Also football a winter sport so leave the summer for the cricket !
Sort the problems of people not turning up out first, ie a stadium built for South Spain more then North West England ! Get it more enclosed to keep the cold out and maybe get a bar built in the waste of space behind the West Stand (Academy Stadium) !

They really need too stop trying to be clever and look back how the youth and reserve games where managed at Hyde Utd then we played there ! Pay on the gate , stand were you want , pies and burgers and also a club if you fancied a pint !

Spot on Kev. On the coldest game I’ve been to at the Minihsd, I was allowed into the corporate block at half time, no questions asked.

Also, a lot of us probably go to 4 or 5 games, to see the Women’s Team, per season. Given that everyone went to the Derby in the Autumn, I’ve only been to one game since. The average crowd won’t be down but Utd’s promotion will have had an affect on some of the games I go to.
