First time I watched us play and Taylor hasn’t improved them the better results are because we getting players back! Seems we don’t play as a team as much as we used to a lot of greedy players in the box not looking up to for an easy pass for a a goal the time we actually crossed the ball we scored. Says everything the rags have a new manager and looking far better results wise.

Given that we are still missing the best goalkeeper and right winger in the league and are still playing one of the best fullbacks at centre half, and other important players coming back from injury, and the two Australians on Int duty,we did ok. Stanway and Walsh look a great pairing in centre midfield and other proper ball players like Hemp and Weir and the defence is looking strong.
I suppose thats leads to look at leadership then, after looking at all the positives above. With the cockerney teams and rags looking strong, its the key decisions that are important, and we seem to be lacking in those.

I haven't seen as much of the women's team as I would like lately. But it appears Janine Beckie hasn't been playing much. I know we have a number of good players but she seems to make good things happen when she does play.

The game should have been over.
Park and Hemp missing chances good strikers score from. Both tore Arsenal full backs apart time and time again but we just didn't convert the chances.
A sky panel full of Arsenal apologists reckon it was a fair result. Well I fucking don't, I thought we were robbed of a deserved 3 points and wonder what game they were watching as their keeper made save after save whilst our young kid in nets had next to fuck all to do.
The fucking whingeing from Arsenal manager and panel who rather than admit they don't know the rules choose to poor scorn on the ref for allowing the game to carry on whilst making their own interpretations of the rules up as they went to justify why it should have been disallowed was particularly laughable. The only mistake the ref made was booking Hempo for being badly fouled, then getting up and being shoulder barged by the same cunty Arsenal player.
The Derby return might be a bit tasty this year. All to play for anyway for the ladies and we're starting to show form now we have some players back. Ellie soon hopefully!
good summary there. The only thing I would add is about 10 mins into the second half we contrived to put ourselves under pressure for a few mins when the Arse could have scored - due to the ridiculous obsession of playing out from the back even when its not possible.

I did laugh when that happened and said to the guy next to me that that was the default in situations like that. Hemp objected to the foul perpetrated on her, got another four pennorth from the Arse thug, and got booked for her troubles. Dreadful refereeing!

I actually think she's done really well at right back whenever she's played there - certainly better than Lucy Bronze was yesterday, it was the worst I've seen her play.

playing out from the back depends on skill(obvs) but even more on movement off the ball, showing for the ball at exactly the right moment, and knowing what to do with it when it comes. The vindication for it is keeping possession, a lump away sees the ball straight back more often than not, a kick out of touch is a better option imo, throw-ins rarely cause trouble and a respite in order to reset. Specific training drills are essential; the women's team are well behind the youth teams in this from what i can see, again, in my humble opinion.

I see we've scored another controversial goal according to the BBC. I thought that when a ball hits the referee play is only stopped if posession passes to the other team. It didn't, so where's the contoversy?
3 reasons the game would be stopped after hitting the referee, none of which applied.
  • The ball goes into one of the nets (a goal is scored)
  • The team possessing the ball changes
  • One of the teams gets a promising chance to score
BBC last night tried to invent a new one, ‘the ball changed direction’.
