Only getting a chance to have an input on today's game. Good first half. SUPERB second! Odd, cos we usually fade away!

Looks like Taylor has finally decided to play to Shaw's strengths; into her stride (as she keeps making great runs) and not too much [*fucking about] into the final third when she runs out of space! That's the point I was trying to make ages ago (same for White), but the team kept overplaying in the final third.

As for the pen? Stonewall, I'm afraid, even if it was 'soft'. Why Walsh was making a challenge on a player going nowhere in the pen box, I'll never know. She went through the player and didn't even touch the ball, with her speculative challenge.

Anyway, awesome match for the women!!

Jesus 4, Shaw 4!

As it stands, we lead the ragettes by 2 points and are six ahead on GD.

They face West Ham at home tomorrow and Chelsea away on Sunday, 8 May. We have Brum at home on Wednesday evening and Reading away on 8 May.

Bottom line is that 4 points from hereon in is highly likely to be good enough. Even a one-goal win and a draw in our last two games will require the Leigh-based cloggers to win their two matches with an aggregate victory margin of eight goals.

Given that they face a Chelsea side next week who'll probably need to win to claim the title, that's a hell of an ask. Still, I'd like us to finish off with two good wins so that we ram home our superiority.

If only we were awarded those! Folk screaming from the stand 'Don't foul her!"

I thought when we went 3-0 the ref went into Brighton Sympathy mode, as they all seem to do. Demi Stokes was fouled just on the touchline à la Keira but ref's not interested and bingo 3-2. Absolutely dominant second half. We could have had six in the first half. Lauren put a couple wide that she normally gets inside the far post, but a good win, and points 'n goals ahead of the Ragettes.

I agree with most of that.

All I can say is Walsh was dumb in giving away the pen. Sorry, but that's true. Forced that correct decision from the ref.

Anything else the ref gave away didn't lead directly to the other goal, that I can remember. The point is, that it wasn't detrimental in the end and we learned and adapted.

I'm hoping the new direction becomes cemented in our future play.

A good win for the women today, I do wish we wouldn't make it uncomfortable for ourselves though. To be three up and comfortably winning and find ourselves at 3-2 with only a good save from Roebuck is silly. Second half we finally put the game to bed, Shaw a good exhibition of finishing, I am pleased for her. Walsh was daft, it was a penalty.

We need to process the ball much more quickly from the back. I noticed that Brighton were much more adept at getting the ball from the back and out of their half in a couple of passes. We seem to have some fixation that five or six passes is the default before we look for a midfielder. Allana was passing it back to Ellie, I think, in order to get another pass from her - mind-numbing!

Agreed. Some of the passage of play can be quite dull!

I understand the 'safety first' aspect, but when the men do it, it's to pull the opposition shape apart.

I'm not sure that's the target, currently speaking, for the Women!

I noticed that Brighton were rather good at maintaining their shape when we switched flanks, but they are first and foremost, like a good few FAWSL sides, athletes and then footballers. We have an array of midfielders and forwards who can quickly process the ball and get it inside the oppo area, witness the number of chances that we miss(!). I just wish the backline would make the obvious pass sooner!

I, honestly, think this passing transition is a matter of confidence and trust. Most of our midfielders are marked for space, so the margins are tight. We know it's crucial not to be turned over in your own third, so I think that's why it's so precautious in play.

The men have a risk/ reward style, whereas the women don't.

It's margins, but it makes a huge difference in play.
