Gareth Taylor thinks the Conti Cup is a priority… well thanks to him it has to be … we are out of every other competition effectively.

I think he didn't make the best use of the Americans when they were here and I haven't fully understood, when we supposedly had Dahlkemper on a two year contract, she buggered off early. Nineteen players are listed on the WSL injury list and we account for seven of them, at least six of the seven would be first picks, too! CFC and Arsenal wouldn't be performing as they are had they the same injury list as us.

Tomorrow night, if MCFC ever did formalities, is a formality, but we shall see! Durham are currently top of the Championship.
Dahlkemper has turned out to be one of our worst signings in the modern era. Yes she was a good player but other reliable centre halves were shipped out to accommodate Abi and that left a gaping hole in the squad when she left, early.

Dahlkemper’s signing also weaker our back line in terms of defending set pieces. Something that we haven’t really addressed for years.

Hoping we get the same result for the women tonight as we did last night. Two days on the trot at City for me!

Yeah, I was not a little flummoxed when Beattie 'n Bonner moved on. These two were reliable CBs and what came in wasn't a massive upgrade. The Irish lass was a constant injury but solid when she played.

Izzy Christiansen scored a cracker tonight for Everton. I know her and Nikita Parris went to Lyon but as soon as there were indications they were returning to England, we should’ve made enquires to being them back.
izzy was one of those midfielders who constantly created and chipped in with a decent goal tally. I think she fell out of favour before she went to Lyon. She wasn't always starting. Don't know why 'cos that midfield hasn't been the same since!

Beattie left to be nearer her partner (cricketer Danni Wyatt) at the time (no idea if they're still together) and Gemma Bonner wasn't getting game time with us and wasn't likely to break the Houghton/Dahlkemper partnership so jumped at the chance to head off to the US for an expansion team and who can blame her. Dahlkemper really left us in the shit by not fulfilling her contract. I don't know the ins-and-outs of what happened there but leaving so close to the start of the season wasn't great and left us scrambling to replace her.

I'm not anticipating a miserable trek home tonight after the game, but if the breaks don't go our way then GT will need Shakespearean prose to get himself out of the hole we'd be in - league effectively gone, Uefa CL gone, FAWC gone, and Conti Cup a maybe!

It was clanger to treat Bonner so poorly. Possibly, Taylor’s biggest mistake.

Pretty dour game with City 1-0 up (at 80 mins).Durham still in the game though and it will only take one mistake. Mind you City would be miles ahead if we were playing rugby and points given for balls over the cross bar. Not many people here, most working for City in some way. This is the type of game that will attract no one but is not so bad to tempt top management to sack Taylor, which is a pity.

3-0, and 10-0 wouldn't have flattered us, even though we looked pretty poor ourselves. This was a second 11 until we brought on the first team players, and yet at 87 minutes could still have gone either way. We miss too many chances, far too many (men and women), and we don't shoot enough, preferring to walk the ball into the net (both men and women).

I find it infuriating (men and women), yet the men got 4 last night, and the women 3 tonight.

Izzy was at the game tonight. I told her we were singing her praises on BM - "We haven't had a midfield since yer left," I told her!

Only Caroline Weir 'n Philippa Angeldahl had any idea that shooting was part and parcel of the game. I often wonder whether the rest wholly understand the objective of the game. I am certain they have this notion that passing is the objective. There was one instance in the second half where we got into the Durham penalty area and there were four or five passes - total distance of said passes amounted to no more than five or six yards, when every passer on the ball had an option to shoot. They might have been blocked but in a crowded area a deflection could be all that's needed for the ball to end up in the net. The number of passes that cause absolutely no bother to an opposition team must be reaching 70 or 80% of the total passes.

I saw the Tottenham and West Ham games and although we won tonight by what might appear a comfortable margin the game as a spectacle was no better than either of the two former games.

It seems to be a "club thing", first team, EDS, U18's, and women, all prefer to make 100 passes, around the box, and only a few actually take a shot, and in the first team its often the ones you don't want shooting who do, and sky the damned thing.

Walking it in seems to be very "holistic".

Yes it's quite odd. There does appear almost to be an aversion to shooting, at times it comes almost as a shock to the players themselves that they are in a position to shoot, so much so that they don't know what to do. Thankfully Weir came on and got on with it and Beckie followed in similar fashion. Quite a lot of us in the crowd were shouting out 'shoot' as soon as we neared the box, think it's got to that stage now where folk are getting frustrated.

It wouldn't be so bad if they put a bit of pace on the ball and were able to control it better. There were instances where the ball was passed to the feet of a player who was in plenty of space and it was passed immediately back to the player who first passed it - mind numbing. Once upon a time we had midfielders who, when receiving the ball would turn and drive forwards where the danger to opposition lies. I estimate that 80% of our passes do absolutely no harm to opposition teams. One of the biggest differences in the men's and women's game is the first touch the men have - I bet there is no one in the women's game who has the touch of Bernardo, Foden or Mahrez or comes close. Those who want to tell us it's the 'same game' are kidding themselves.

I feel we need to employ a ' Toe Bunging ' coach.

First ladies match since Covid will be the Chelsea game. Is it e-tickets as per the main stadium? If so, when are they likely to be ready to transfer to my wallet on the iPhone?
