Women's Team Thread 2024/2025

Yeah, those Gals play like our men used to - relentless!

Seriously, just watched the highlights against Spurs. It was visually striking: all over the pitch, the girls had exactly what the men are lacking at present — dynamism, sharpness, freshness, hunger everywhere. The contrast was stark. That's the difference between a team that's holding up fairly well in terms of injuries and not playing more matches than the body is designed for, and the others.

The girls can be champions this year, but there's one, and one way only, to do it. Beat Chelsea. Ideally twice, but if not, a draw and a win. That Chelsea team is not dropping silly points anywhere.
The gunners seem to be getting better now after their slow start, maybe they will take points off chelsea later in the season (had hoped they would a couple of weeks ago), but we certainly need to take points off them to win as well, I think we are the only 2 teams that look capable at the moment.

No way I'm having Taylor as Pep's replacement.

Later today we will find out just how realistic becoming champions is.

I know there are still many games to plays, but I am not that optimistic like some on here. It is not because of today’s results, but because of our consistently unimpressive performances despite our winnings (in my opinion, Barcelona’s game was an anomaly). I will never blame the players or isolate 1 or 2 like some do. For me, the obvious one to blame is the inept coach whom the club renewed his contract for 3 more years in spite of his failures to achieve. The truth of the matter is that the women’s season comes to 4 games: 2 against Chelsea and 2 against Arsenal. We already lost 2 points against Arsenal, and we should have won that game with better tactics because Arsenal’s coach was the old one who was sacked a few games after our game. And then lost 3 points against Chelsea today. With Gareth at the helm, we could have never won today’s game. I won’t fool myself because Chelsea’s coach is superior and more intelligent than Gareth. What makes it more challenging is that Arsenal improved significantly, and their new coach also appears to be superior to Gareth. My prediction, and I do hope I am wrong, it will be somehow similar in the other 2 games and we will lose 3 (win a game and lose a game) to 5 points (lose a game and draw the other). In the league, I am afraid we will finish 3rd. But good for the enthused posters on here, keep your optimism. I will be happy to be proven wrong at the end of the season.
