Words that have gone out of fashion

That "apeth" that Burnden mentioned is nowt to do with apes, and should be spelt "ha'p'orth", i.e. "halfpennyworth", or of low worth.
A halfpenny was an old coin, probably before your time.
 
.....and how often do you hear the word "bivouac" nowadays? Or "square", meaning" uncool"?
