Words you hate?

The incorrect use of the word “myself”.

The term “myself” denotes a person doing something on their own. So, “I presented the session myself” is correct because “myself” should only be used reflexively as a reference to me on my own as the subject earlier in the sentence.

It is incorrect to say “myself and Dave will be presenting the session”. “Dave and I...” or even “Me and Dave...” are both correct; “Myself and Dave” or “Dave and myself” are not correct.

“Self isolate” is another one, and this has been rife over the last year.

You’re self isolating, are you? Are you also “angry cross”, “fatigued tired” and “fed-up bored”?

If you’re isolating, of course you’ll be doing it by yourself.

“Self partnered” is a new term that’s cropped up. How the fuck can you be partnered with yourself? A partner means people engaged together in the same activity. You can’t partner anything on your own.
Errr...sorry PC, if you mean "me and Dave will be presenting the session" then that is most definitely wrong. It has to be "Dave and I will be etc, etc."

BBC presenters make the mistake of saying" I" when it should be "me" all the time and it really winds me up.For example .."please send your answers to either Dave or I", in this instance it has to be "Dave or me"

Reading that reminded me of something commentators say that drives me mental.
Player controls the ball, beats two defenders, sees the keeper off his line, chips him, the ball descends and hits the top of the bar. After calming down, the commentator utters the immortal

He did everything right...
.
No he fucking didn't, unless he wanted to hit the top of the bar and scald a daft **** sitting with a coffee in the front row.

I had to get that off my chest.
It's a rarity if the commentator is even focused on the pitch action. Often, they and the co-commentator are babbling on about some past event and won't brake off even when a promising attack is developing.

Me and Dave is informally acceptable to show that me and Dave are doing something together. Myself and Dave makes no sense.

Dave and I is grammatically correct though.
