words you used to say at school...

I was at primary in the early 1970's and the word "Barleys" was said a lot. You used to put your thumbs up when you said it and it indicated you were "off limits" in whatever trouble was brewing.

It might not have even been "Barleys" as my memory is bad, but it was something that certainly sounded like it.

In the late 1980's my Son went through a phase of saying "TAXED!!!" to any car he thought was mint. Used to drive me round the sodding bend.

It was Barleys. No idea where it came from but we all said it.

Thanks for the confirmation, it was starting to do my head in.

At the same time there was a fascination with a game of tig where you used to say "bugs!" as you tigged the other kid.

wow, seen a good few in here we all used like Shell (said to someone who's just made a bellend of themself)
Crop for foul
Tagging for daubing a "tag" nickname on buses/walls/windows in marker pen (rife in the 80's)

halves on that yeh? - may I share your cigarette.
taxing - the act of relieving a usually smaller child of their money.
waggin it - truanting from school.
field! field! when they let us have playtime on the field, that was "mint"

keep them coming....
