If that's the case we have an argument for 1 or 2 players, but also that team could quite easily contain no City players!

Indeed - but then, does our coach make us better than the sum of our parts? That's the difference between a world class player, a team made of world class players, and a world class team.
 
I would have argued for Kompany and Yaya a few years ago.

At the moment Aguero, and possibly KDB, if he continues his form and ratio of goals/assists.
