World Cup 2018 | 18th June | England vs Tunisia Match Thread

It’s a good win in the end. Tunisia we’re coming in as a difficult opponent. They rarely had a sniff, we shoukd make the knockout rounds which is all I expect.

Can't believe the Kane detractors on here. Throw the partisan specs away.

He an excellent goal scorer. Scoring goals is obviously vital but maybe England would be a better all-round team with someone that offered a bit more. Maybe they wouldn't be. Won't really know unless they try it which I can't imagine they'll do unless Kane gets injured.

The problem is in games when he doesn't score because he offers little else.

Not a good performance but you got 3pts and that's all that matters. I think England will top the group with 9 points

It was frustrating to have FIVE defenders AND a defensive mid on the pitch when we were controlling possession. Include the ‘keeper and that’s 7 it of the 11 players who aren’t going to create chances. It was wrong to do that!

That formation is fine against Spain and Brazil who’ll have all the ball. But against teams where we’ll have all the ball needs to have a different approach.

Completely agree. On bbc they were saying how vital Maguire was bringing the ball out to create space but in all honesty having a three at the back your relying on a centre half (not the most technically gifted) to commit players and due to five at the back less players in front of you to pass too. Hence the turgid, square passing we saw second half.

Did you see Belgium play? Poor.
Watched the entire match and they were poor for periods but began to grow into things toward the end. And they did not struggle anywhere near as much as we did.

We were ultimately lucky to win today, against a steadfast but not particularly talented side. That said, I still think the penalty was very soft, especially given Tunisia’s transgressions in theirs. And that constant fouling has to be stopped; they were kicking anything that moved and falling over when we breathed heavily near them.

I liked the lineup but I think sterling should’ve been on the wing instead of young and stick rashford or vardy up front with Kane.

Henderson didn't make any mistakes but besides one pass in the first half I can't remember many forward passes or forward runs with the ball at all. He's better than Dier but I still think Delph looked far better in the warm up game, far more positive and better on the ball.
