DENMARK VS AUSTRALIA

Match kicks off at 13:00 (BST)
on ITV 1. Coverage starts at 12:30 (BST). Presented by Jacqui Oatley, analysis from Slaven Bilic, Martin O’Neill and Eni Aluko, commentary from Jon Champion and Ally McCoist.

Denmark started the tournament with a 1-0 win over Peru but so far that result is probably the most undeserved of the tournament. They were battered for the 90 minutes but did the most important thing, which is putting the ball in the back of the net. Eriksen although playing a big part in the goal, was fairly quiet and he’ll be looking to be more influential in this one.

Goal scorers so far:
Y. Poulsen (1).

Australia started their campaign with a 2-1 defeat to France which was undeserved, as they fought hard and picked their moments to attack, they deserved at least a point. Unfortunately a really unlucky, late own goal cost them the point. They can’t afford to lose this game as that will leave them needing a miracle. Aaron Mooy was their best player in the last game and they’ll need him to show up again.

Goal scorers so far:
Jedinak (1).

FRANCE VS PERU

Match kicks off at 16:00 (BST) on ITV 1. Coverage starts at 15:15 (BST). Presented by Mark Pougatch, analysis from Roy Keane, Family Man and Patrice Evra (might want to avoid the pre-match on this one), commentary from Sam Matterface and Lee Dixon.

France started the tournament with a less that convincing 2-1 win over Australia. They look disjointed and relying on individualism to see them through. Deschamps appears to be picking the team based on reputation and not performances. Many of their players were poor, Umtiti and Pogba off memory and even Griezmann but he was at least involved in the first goal. They will need to be much better in this game or they’ll beat, simple as.

Goal scorers so far:
Griezmann (1), Own Goal (1).

Peru started the tournament with a 1-0 defeat to Denmark but they were really impressive and never ever deserved to lose this game. At 0-0 they had a massive chance with a penalty but Cueva skied it. If they play like they did in their 1st game but learn to put their chances away then they have a chance of winning this game. Guerrero will probably start this game, as they need a striker on the pitch who will put his chances away.

No goal scorers so far.

Group C is subject to change because of the game before this.

ARGENTINA VS CROATIA

Match kicks off at 19:00 (BST)
on BBC 1. Coverage starts at 18:30 (BST). Presented by Gary Lineker, analysis from Alan Shearer, Jermaine Jenas and PABLO ZABALETA, commentary from Steve Wilson and Mark Lawrenson.

This looks like a very good game on paper.

Argentina started their World Cup campaign with a 1-1 draw against Iceland, Sergio Aguero scoring the goal that but them 1-0 up but they were pegged back minutes later. This is an important game, they won’t want to be going into their final group game looking for a win when the pressure will be even higher. Their best player in the last game was probably Aguero but he wasn’t given the supply he deserved, that knee operation looks to have done him the world of good. Messi needs to be miles better in this game, I know he got them there on his own in qualification but he did have help in that first game and needs to trust his team a little more. Di Maria however as very poor and deserves benching, also don’t play a 2 man defensive midfield!

Goal scorers so far:
Aguero (1).

Croatia started their tournament with a 2-0 win over a very poor Nigeria side. They weren’t brilliant but they were lucky, benefitting from an own goal and a brain fart from the Nigerian defender Balogun who was caught holding on a corner, which gave Croatia a penalty. Surprising story from their first game is that Nikola Kalinic was sent on for refusing to come on! I expect Croatia to sit in a little bit in this game, they don’t need to win this game, they’ll be content with sitting in and making this a tough game for Argentina, who need the win more.

Goal scorers so far:
Modric (1), Own Goal (1).

I'll go for an Aussie win to keep things interesting. Mooy was superb against France.
