because in proper german oezil is spelt özil and muller spelt müller.
It's called an umlaut . if you don't use an umlaut you use an extra e instead.

Correct. However, never make the mistake of pronouncing the non-umlaut spelling as you would in English (that is toe in German would be closer to tour).

The German defence being given the run around by Slimani, genuinely shocking. Very average player but having a good WC.
