Pellers must be enjoying commentating on this on Chilean TV

Yes he did. His comments were very laudatory to the Chile style, closing spaces to Spain and mantanining control. Had some references to Cazorla when came in. In his opinion Chile can go very far in this WC.

It would be interesting to see if Pellergini is ringing Txiki up and seeing if we have any spare cash from our 50m cap to sign one or two of these Chileans.

Lot's of quality in that team.

"Kevin via text: Today showed why Sir Alex Ferguson was a great manager as he knew when to ship out ageing players and played nobody on their past or name alone. Too many managers however great don't learn and dilute their legacy. Sad to say but true of Del Bosque."

Rags will strike ANYtime!

Three at the back.

Not trying to open up a Mr M v Mr P debate but with Argentina, Chile and Holland so far;

Was Mr Mancini on the right lines ?. Zabaleta, Kolorov and Clichy all perfect for it ( not so sure about Sagna).

Chile's three were Medel, a relegated midfielder. Silva, a relegated midfielder and Jara, a defender freed by Forest!

Del Bosque primarily at fault for Spain's poor showing in this a World Cup,
a) no pace in attack, why leave out Navas? His pace would've caused all sorts of problems for Chilie
b) Casaillas should've been dropped after the first game, De Gea is a far better keeper at the moment .
Not taking anything away from Chilie, they were excellent.

Yes, will be good craic when he gets off the plane. Harakiri sounds like a plan.

Problems are deeper than that. Taking Navas would have added nothing especially since he is so hit and miss. Worst he can often easily be dealt with when teams sit back. Playing Casilias was a mistake, but it's hard for a manager to disregard a player that has always saved you. Lippi made the same mistake in 2010 and I felt Del Bosque would do the same.

Spain must change now. They need to leave Tika-taka behind and play a style of football that suits their current bunch of players. They still easily have a top 5 squad in the world and probably only behind the Germans.
