World Cup VAR

Can't have decisions being made by full kit wankers in the video booth.

Most they should do is refer it back to the ref, and let him make the decision.

Anything more than that is a recipe for disaster.

I don't understand why folks don't get this.

We now have a full.seperate bunch of dodgy ****s who can fuck us over, before even handing it to the potentially dodgy/bent ref who can also fuck us over.

Then when it happens, it's perfectly fine, because of course, it's been done after a replay, (or not, if some bent twat decides the ref isn't worthy of seeing the replay).

The only excuse, for not giving that **** a red card tonight is 'the ref didn't see it'

You can't SEE IT ON VIDEO and not give it!!!! There is no get out situation. It's a red card.

Same with the pens last night. The first offence is a pen. You don't roll the fucking video on, to see if the blokes being fouled, later do it back, you give the fucking pen immediately. The only excuse is: the ref didn't see it.

Yep. In rugby league they show replay after replay on a huge fucking screen so everyone can see in minute detail what happened. Tonight we got fucked over by those bent twats

Unlike other sports who already have VAR in place, the main concern for us long-suffering fans seeing bent refereeing decisions week in, week out from the same set of corrupt officials, is that THEY DON'T WANT TRANSPARENCY ANYWHERE NEAR THEIR COZY LITTLE CLUB, as they would have to apply the Laws of the game in a fair and equitable manner to all sides. That would mean a substantial drop in their take home pay, as the brown envelopes would soon dry up, and certain clubs would soon find themselves in a more realistic place in the league. The powers that be obviously don't want this to happen, as it will damage the value of the "product" they are selling.

This is exactly what I think is happening: they don't want it to just work seamlessly, they want to have an avenue for control, which is the bit Utd etc will want to look into before sanctioning it.

They would never want a v.a.r. system with which they couldn't intimidate officials.

But the last two days must be such a relief to them & Liverpool.

Except that head of VAR in this world cup, Collina has said in recent days, that this is one of the improvements he is in favour of, he wants transparency, and if its brought in, then there will be no excuses.

I'm glad that Collina is in favour of more transparency, especially in view of Italy's match-fixing past - he sees it as the way forward.
So why do the PL and PiGMOL not want to bring it in next season then, and have been reluctant to bring in any help to referees? (A rhetorical question for obvious reasons)

Wouldn’t you want the Premier league to have it when it is more to transparent ?

Genuinely thought VAR would be a disaster and ruin the World Cup but it’s been the opposite
 
VAR must be the future. But until we follow the example of Rugby and show the replays live, there will always be the issues that so many posters have identified.

One mistake that occurred last night was the yellow card for the nut on Henderson. VAR can only be used for a red card, the referee did not see the incident, so he would have needed to go and ckeck the screen himself to give a decision. The ref broke the code by giving a yellow card.

I'd have it in the PL tomorrow - with the caveat that it is TOTALLY transparent. The paying public at the game should see and hear exactly what the referee and VAR officials are looking at and pondering. If there's nothing to hide, it should be shown and heard.

I quite often get home from matches seething with perceived injustice over an incident, to be told by someone having watched it on TV that I was right (or wrong!) in my opinion of what I saw. Like the referee, I have one view of it, whereas TV viewers see it from all angles. The other bugbear is that "controversial" incidents are not shown on the big screens, which adds to the frustration. Transparency would do away with this.

Bring it on as soon as possible, but in a way that the matchgoer can see that the correct decision is given, rather than the guesswork (or cheating) that is currently in place.

Not too often though a headbutt gets a yellow. And if it wasn't Henderson should have got a yellow for simulation and doubled up with his tv screen hand movements.

The ref in this game just lost it.

That's the thing, for me it's been great at the World Cup because I am, like the vast majority of people, watching it from home. When next season starts if anyone in the ground will be worse off than people sat on thier sofas it's going to lose its desirability for me.

The first time we celebrate a goal with no flag only for it to be reviewed and then rescinded is going to be fucking shit. It's bad enough when you don't see the linesman until too late and celebrate prematurely. If we can't see what the VAR team, the ref and the people watching on telly can see then it's potentially going to detract from the experience of being there.

Just because a *ref* is from MLS doesn't automatically mean he or she is bad.
