In spite of my user name i detest Worsley. I lived there for years before escaping and in my opinion it has a very one upmanship mentality and it is surrounded by absolute shithole areas. it is basically one square mile of decent over priced houses. Drive a few minutes and you are in Eccles (shit hole) and real backward areas like Tyldsley and Clifton. Everyone in Worsley claims to be Giggsys best mate and every body puts "ys" on everones name. Isn't it amazing when you think of the culural difference between a maveric character from Chorlton say and a wag from Worsley (its full of them) who is impressed because she lives near Tyrone from Coronation Street and Kim Marsh. Amazing how different peoples mentaility can be so different in a few miles.

in summary Worsley is a in a city very different to Manchester, full of arrogant rags. In my opnion the reasons i dont like Man United are very similar to why i hated living there. Generally speaking fll of rag pricks. in Worsley you have 3 rough pubs full of knobs, 1 garden centre, 3 restraunts a co-op and a pretentious gym.

Would not live there again if you gave me a house for free.

The last time i ventured there,some 12 months back,the Barton was still ok,is this no longer the case?

WOW, some right load of bollocks spoken on this thread. Lets start off with where exactly Worsley is. "Worsley village" is a small lovely area just of J13, M60. Lovely houses, Hotels, bars, nice restaurants, shops and generally good people live there. Ive lived in this house behind the Barton Arms for 4 years, and never once had any trouble from anyone. It has one of the top 5 lowest crime postcodes in the whole of Manchester with 4 incidents over the last 3 years according to the GMP figures released last year.

The larger area of "Worsley" stretches upand covers areas like Walkden and Little Hulton (which is one of the biggest slums around, and deserves all the negative press it gets) is full of lower class work shy slobs who call their daughters the names of fancy sports cars. Yes you got it, Mercedes and Porsche are the top baby names in this area. Little Hulton shopping precint is like something off shameless, but worse.

I would say that Worsley is in the top 4 places to live inside the M60, and i really couldnt find any reason NOT to live here. All those that are saying its full of posh wankers, to a degree your right. Most people who live here go out in the mornings, earn a decent amount of money, and go out and spend it in the local area. People who are slating the pubs seriously need to get out more as there are much worse pubs. The Barton Arms attracts an older crowd, mainly 35+. The same with the John Gilbert, but The Bridgewater and The Cock are full of rags, and younger pricks who dont live here, but come in to drink in the area. All those who are slating the place, i would be interested to know where you live if you dont like Worsley Village.

As for the OP, i would really recommend it to your mate. Its a great area with generally good working class people who like to have a good time. Granted there is the odd knob head, but there is everywhere these days.

The rag, Brown canal, bridgewater school, roe green part of it is nice, although only 5 mins from Walker road Winton, where the high power, benifit funded xmax decs go up in October and the tatoos on the necks of the residents are a delight.

Boothstown is nice but massively over priced, Ellenbrook is nice but cramped, walkden is a shhit tip, with the biggest white Elephant of a shopping centre ever built, little Hulton is basically shameless and you need a shower after yoy drive through it. If you stop your car and lock the doors, you will be able to obseve, amongst other delights, tatooed fuuckwits, babys with pierced ears, spitting women and a variety of leather clad, long haired crack heads walking down the pavements in diagonal step pattern!

2 places that have obviously gone downhill since I lived there 20 odd years ago..... or maybe not. I was a kid when they built the private estate on the winton/worsley border, remember going round Carol singing with a few mates for a bit of cash, Tommy Booth lived in one of the houses and answered the door, being the only City fan I was the only one who recognised him!! Thank Fxxk I escaped from there, lots of decent people but sadly too many scrotes.

There is a lot of decent people who live on Kenyon Way. My Mum for one! Over all there is nothing wrong with worsley however you do pay a premium for the post code. Move 1 to 2 miles further down the east lancs and you get more property for your money

The snobbery on this board is unbelievable. Lived in LH for nearly 4 years now not had any trouble. Granted I don't take leisurely strolls down Kenyon Way, peel park or the outdated precinct at night but it's no worse than most places in Manchester. Don't talk such pish.
