worst city defensive combination?

The fact that stephen jordans name hasn't been mentioned is shocking.

To balance out the flak he may get Jordan did keep the tranny quiet in two derbies, 0-0 at the Swamp and the 3-1 at the Etihad where the cheating prick eventually got a red card.

I find it equally shocking that Richard Dunne is getting a mention on here. One of our WORST defenders?? Really??

Mike (fucking useless ****)Walsh and Ken (fucking useless ****) McNaught.
Geoff Hammond and Gerry Taggart.
Ronnie Healey.
If we were unlucky enough to have had this lot as a defence,we would be where Stockport are now.
Richard Dunne, should not be on this thread.

Any back four is better than freaking Garcia, Lescott and Kolorov in it.

mmm

That would be the same Lescott who has been an integral part of the meanest defence in the premier league for the past 3 years would it.

Don't be daft lad.

Richard Dunne????? Lescott??????

sOMETIME IN THE 80`S WHEN 2 FENTON BRothers played together. Utter shite.

It was the Frank Clark era in the 90s - Anthony Fenton never made a competitive first team appearance but Nick was bad enough for both of them. ;-)

Two defenders who stick in my mind as rarely managing to put a foot right for City were Michael Frontzeck and Tal Ben Haim. They must have scored 4 or 5 out of 10 every week.

Alan Kernaghan (slow and clumsy), Mike Walsh (even slower and clumsier), Stefan Savic (playing in slow motion and tripping anyone who took him on), and Nicky Summerbee (when he was playing right-back but was afraid to tackle) should get honourable mentions too.

Yeah Dunne was so fucking shite he won player of the year 4 seasons running.
The only reason we are where we are now is because we got rid of him.

What is more mental?

The belief that getting rid of Richard Dunne could, on its own, turn any team into league winners and Champions League regulars?

Or that a City fan could be so disparaging about such a loyal servant who was consistently such a good player?
Dunny is a City legend. Simple as that - even his howlers were class.

Never forget Summerbee's lunge at Irwin at the Maine Road derby in 1995-1996 to give then a pen in front of the North Stand.

There was talk of him being a rag and when i saw him just lunge instead of close him down i thought there was some truth in it.

Can't believe some of the posts on here including the likes of Dunne and Lescott in any of their worst defensive combinations when you consider some of the absolute shite some of us slightly (ahem !) older blues have had to put up with ffs !! Oh little did we know how spoilt we would become so here is a couple of quality defensive line ups from the mid 90's (96/97 season I think) and a mix of tosspots who donned the famous shirt at some point in the 8o's:

96/97 This line up actually played together in a competitive game am sure of it

Margetson or Immel
(Better than Coton according to the little flat cap wearing ginger "look at my 66 medal" tosspot ! (God rest his soul)

McGoldrick (Briefly at full back) Foster ( Let him off coz he's a blue !) Darren (FFS !!!) Wassall /b]Rae (Not the quickest !) Ingram

All star line up for the 80's

Barry effing Siddall
Geoff Lomax Nigel Johnson Mike Walsh Ivan Golac

Now that line up would've kept Bayern quiet lol !!

Dunny was prolific - no one was more lethal in front of his own goal

When City played Villa a couple of seasons back, apparently 3 of the top 6 all-time Premier League top goal scorers against Man City were playing for Villa that day ... Darren Bent, Robbie Keane and Richard Dunne ... Dunne is one of the top 6 scorers against City just by virtue of his own goals !

Also, when he left City he was apparently joint-top of 2 Premier League records: most own goals, and most red cards.

Still a legend, though !

(Actually, I saw him a couple of months back in a cafe one Sunday morning, having breakfast and browsing holiday magazines with (what I presume was) his wife)
