Michael Hughes' last minute penalty against Everton. I think the ball landed in the Social Club.
There was also the largely forgotten Steve Mackenzie miss after rounding the Spurs keeper at Wembley. That would have been 2-0 and our whole history might have changed completely.

you are evoking quite painful memories here...please please stop!

Silva missed a sitter in the FA Cup Final where he hit it into the ground and bounced over the bar.

Going off slightly I know, but I remember Amr Zaki missing a horrendous sitter against us a few years back.

Truly special miss.

Defoe's miss last season was just as bad and if he scored we might not have gone on to win the league.

Didn't de Jong miss a sitter against Leicster in our run to win the FA Cup?

Also, I seem to remember a Vieira miss against Everton, close in volley.

Bit harsh on Steve Mackenzie I feel. Rounded the keeper and took it a little wide and as a right footer (I think), he was on the left hand side and hit the post.....

Reyna in the home game again Lokeren, if i remember rightly he chipped the keeper, open net, then skied it.

I was thinking of the Grozlin game - first 20 minutes we had about 50 chances and missed them all - I seem to remember Robbie Foulup was chiefly responsible.

And didn't the Elk have a sitter in the 3-1 derby that he should have put away but let Donald Pleasance save it?

pmsl.

Adrian Heath against them *****. Dear me, skied it over from a few yards, open net. I nearly caught it at the back of the north stand! Must have been 1991 ish?

You could pick any number of misses by Adrian Heath. The only time I stayed in my seat when a City player was clean through on goal was when it was him (can't remember the game). I knew he would miss - and he did. A useless "striker".

Paul Dickov was almost as bad, but he certainly made amends - Heath didn't.
