Worst ever Defeat for City

the biggest humiliation was being 3-0 down after 30 minutes at Edgeley Park in 1997

Hard to look beyond that for me. Kit Symons fall from grace (he *was* good in 95/96) was completed when he was skinned by Brett 'carthorse' Angell for one of their goals.

A miserable day...though I genuinely felt we'd go on to win when Super Ged pulled one back in the 46th (?) minute. It's the hope that kills you!

The Baseball Ground was a proper old school, pre-Hillsborough football stadium.

Brian Gayle was a fucking disgrace that day btw.

Yeah, also forgot to mention I was chased all the way back to the train station by a load of inbreds... Haha looking back on it, not only was it one of the worst footballing experiences of my life, It was probably the most traumatic thing I've ever gone through.

For all sorts of reasons it was my most humiliating City experience (far worse than relegation or the York and Lincoln defeats the following season, which were simply shite performances)

I went to school in Marple, and Friday in the late 70s was always the night when a load of us caught the bus to Edgeley Park to support our local team. None of us took it seriously, but occasionally County enjoyed a decent cup run (I think they played Arsenal in 1980)

Years later it never occurred to me that City would lose to Stockport. In fact it was that defeat that made me fear the worse for the rest of the season.

Losing to Forest 3-0 at home in the FA Cup during the season of the takeover was a low. I think Wayne Bridge was announced to the crowd before the game. Wright-Phillips started the match but got injured after about twenty minutes and it all went down hill from there.

So many to choose from but I think the Stockport away mentioned earlier was the worst it finally hit me that my blue heroes was in fact a complete pile of shit, Stockport at home when they scored a late penalty to win was was bad too, bury at home, Oxford at home, Blackpool when they beat us on penalties in the cup, Lincoln away, York away Wycombe away there's loads ... But county away I went there thinking Stockport are shit it'll be a good night this, we will win 3 or 4 nil and I'll go in work on a high like we've just won away to juve or something but no 3-0 down before half time it was torture stood behind that goal and watching every goal hit the back of the net right in front of our eyes...

May have got my wires crossed but I thought it was Gio who scored ? Or was this in another defeat to them... God how far have we come.

Yeah I'm a Stockport boy too. As a teenager in the 90s, when City were away I used to watch County with my mates - the Kevin Francis, Jim Gannon, Neil Edward team under Danny Bergara. I obviously had a soft spot for them, so not great to be ridiculed by their fans for two years when I was at college!

A lot of blues my age laugh at County's misfortunes now because of the grief we got in the late 90s from their fans. I don't though, it was their moment in the sun and I can't blame them for enjoying it to the max. Glad it was only brief though!
