Sorry but thats bollocks - fair enough Green Day got on some anti-Bush agenda, but Korn and Killswitch just play there music and aren't trying to be anything more than that. Maybe the people that listen to them think they are trying to promote some sort of message, maybe the music you listen to promotes some sort of message and you presume that all music does/should.
Man, come on, Korn? They're shocking! When he does that 'beatbox' thing it makes me cringe, laugh and weep all at once. It's tragic.
Killswitch Engage are just lame all over.
Green Day were passable as a comedy 'punk' group but now they're all pushing 80 they seem to think they are Noam Chomsky.
I'm happy to listen to music without an agenda or a message, of course I am, a lot of my favourites are hardly 'message' bands.
I was simply stating I hate US Nu metal, sports metal, thrash, screamo, extremo, nonsense made by men older than my dad.
I've got pretty eclectic tastes and I like some stuff that I'd file under 'guilty pleasures' but really, Korn, Killswitch, whoever have managed what, 1 song between them that has registered with me, ever. Freak on a leash, and that was a bit shit in all honesty. Of that lot the only one to actually seem intelligent and have the odd decent tune would be Marilyn Manson but no one ever got over the whole 'man in make up' thing so he was marginalised in critical circles.
I don't want to stop these bands playing their music I just never want to hear it.
Manson has a few good tracks. Korn are of a certain taste, but they were MY band when I was 14, so I cannot say a bad word about them. KSE are fucking brilliant. I don't think I've heard them described as lame in my life - maybe you've been listening to too much *new genre alert* "Sports metal". Alive or just breathing is one of the best albums in metal in my opinion and the track 'End of Heartache' is probably the metal track of this decade.
For me it seems you view metal in the same way I view the Foo Fighters - you haven't really got a lot of time for the music, but you 'hate' them because you dislike the people who like them more than anything.
