Worst/most hated band ever?

Agreed re Arctic Monkeys, decent first album even if it was just The Libertines with a less witty Jarvis Cocker fronting them.

Oasis, never reached the same commercial heights but they've done some really good tunes since the first 2 albums, just perhaps not a cohesive classic album to rival Definitely Maybe.

Stone Roses - Debut was 10/10 perfect, also the tunes from that era that weren't on the album (Somethings Burnings/Fools Gold/Where Angels Play/Standing here etc) are all classics, they were perfect around that time. I really like The Second Coming too, obviously it is nowhere near as good as the debut but it has it's moments.
Oasis, I guess I'm just an albums kind of guy.

As for the Roses, I did actually prefer a CD that was released of non album tracks. I can't remember it's name though.

That was garage flower i think. it was an un-released first attempt. if you get "the Complete" it has a mixture of the first album and b-sides, as well as a few tunes from garage flower.
the roses were ace. they were ground breaking more than anything, you cant take that away from them! and ian brown is still making good music.
as for OASIS, not living up to early promise surely doesn't make them the WORST BAND EVER? They invented a soundtrack to a generation, and inspired millions to play music when bands like metallica and such made it just too complicated to play what you listened to. Oasis were the link between the two, the beginners stage to guitar so to speak.
the worst band ever has to be any band that has no other ambition than to make money. manufactured bands like Boyzone/take that/westlife for example were put together solely to make money from screaming girls for a record company.
For the likes of the roses and oasis, ocean colour scene, The Mondays, the coral etc, it was just something to do. even though money was the ultimate prize, it was about more than just money. it was about standing out, and not following the rules. post punk. they were making a statement and were living what they 'preached'.
i have respect for all bands that believe in what they do, and write material from the heart for themselves.

Nah it was Turns Into Stone he meant, the b sides collection from that era.

I like Garage Flower though, Martin Hannet on production and all that, good stuff.

What gives you the impression that I am?

...Which I'm not of course...

Only people I know who like either of those bands are girls, that's all. Of course, I knew you weren't a girl anyway :)
The thread title states "worst/most hated band" so I put my pennies worth in :). I by no means like them, horrible bands, and such dull people.

Ocean Colour Scene and The Coral?

Blimey. All these bands seemed to copy each other and drag up the worst B sides of everyone that came before them. Have you ever tried non chart music with an edge?

The Smiths - Every song they have just sounds the same.
Nickleback - The lead singer sounds like a Cowboy with a sore throat...
Green Day - I just can't stand them for some reason.
Kings of Leon - See 'Green Day', not to mention them all being related, overrated.
