Corner of ladybridge road/councillor lane , Cheadle Hulme ..

think it was called The Bridge , demolished now !

That was The Greyhound.

And there was The Malt Shovels half way down Councillor Lane too. That was like The Jockey ofrom Shameless!

Yep , you're right , my memory's fading fast ..... it was the Greyhound.

I was the only one in there on my last visit , beer was flat , and the landlord looked about as friendly as Victor Mildew !

ha ha, you're in my neck of the woods. The Cross Keys runs it close for shameless.

I'm pretty sure that Rascal and Natalie Pike live around there too ....

not in the same bedroom though!

Can I throw in The Hope in Heaton Norris, on the A6?

Closest place to my office, went in once and have avoided it for the 7 years since.

Wetherspoons on St Petersgate in Stockport is an experience.
I went in one lunchtime for a colleagues leaving do,and in the space of ten minutes I saw about five drug deals, two pensioners necking,a girl being sick into a pint pot, someone thrown out for trying to steal a picture,a bloke headbutting his girlfriend, and an evil looking Staffordshire Bull Terrier doing the world's longest ever canine piss on some poor girls Barbour jacket.
An utter freakshow of wrongness, and this was at lunchtime.

Ah yes, I have occasionally gone in there on my way for the bus. A real eye-opener, the dregs of humanity all in one place. Including me.

I lived on the Stockport Road corridor for a couple of years and the Pubs in Ardwick and Longsight were rough as anything.

Suppose it depends on your definition of worst pubs.

To me the worst pubs are those like The Hare and Hounds in Timperley or The Moorings in Worsley, where they look at you as if you're some sort of weirdo if you just want a few pints and not a three course meal to go with it.

I expect the thread to head off in the opposite direction of rough and ready locals in not the greatest parts of town. So I'll go with, The Church/Hulme. The Silver Birch/ Wythenshawe. Ryan's Bar/ Sale. The Park/ Northern Moor.

All pubs I quite like though.
What wrong with the church? Apart from the landlord been my local for 30 years was in there with my daughter yesterday

Nothing. I said they were all pubs I quite like.

Again, as was Sams Bar, 10 years ago Stockport Spoons was a large part of my life.

Wednesday - Spoons then Sams Bar.
Thursday - Squares then Brannigans.
Friday - Spoons, Squares, Brannigans then Heaven & Hell.
Saturday - Spoons, Squares, Brannigans then Heaven and Hell.
Sunday - Squares then Brannigans - or just the Bulls Head in Hazel Grove.

Occasionally mix it up on a Friday/Saturday and go in Paramount, Varsity/Barracuda/Brannigans/Bar 38/Squares then end up in Infinity/M2 in town.

The Honeycomb on Fort Beswick estate in the late 70's early 80's. Rough as fuck.

The Phoenix, Briscoe Lane, Newton Heath. Ditto.

The Crown on Old Church St, Newton Heath.

Culcheth Gates, Culcheth Lane, Newton Heath. (Pattern forming uh?)

Any on Moston Lane

I hate the Nag's head (off Deansgate)..
Fucking horrible atmosphere and shit beer!
Some of the more horrible pubs around Manchester can be a right old laugh!!
The Kestrel is Moston was rough as fook....good fun in there, reminds me of the sitcom Early doors lol.....knocked down now

Yes , i've spent many years in Longsight myself in the past ..... and you're quite right , they're all dumps !

If you've got your own teeth you're a hero around there !

Probably the best pint in that area was to be found in the listed Plymouth Grove hotel , before it closed ..... and the Church , at the back of Ardwick Green Park , also wasn't bad in its heyday.
